Hi guys, I'm new here so I just thought I'd introduce myself and street S13. I've had it for a few years now and have always been a Datsun/Nissan fan owning a couple of 510's, one of which I dropped an SR20DET into in 2000. I then purchased my S13 already packing a Trust T88-34D which I tampered with until it got into the 10's on radials. Unfortunately I didn't get it to 60ft when it ran 10.6 @ 137mph (1.96 60ft) and due to not having a cage I wasn't allowed back.

After it started filling the catch can I learnt that the 2.2 litre stroker it was supposed to have was non existant. The engine had a rocker stopper kit, Poncams, forged pistons and the bottom end had been sleeved, but everything else was completely stock internally. We were cranking 29psi into it and producing 520hp at the wheels (pump and toluene mix).

My driving style was way too harsh for the gearbox though (Z31 turbo 5 speed with OS Giken internals) and I broke two selector forks on two occasions. It was at the time that I bit the bullet and installed a PPG helical cut dog gear set. It took a bit of getting used to but it's the best money I've spent and I'll never go back to a synchro box again.

So I started fresh with a new import engine and used Tomei parts for the pistons and rods. HKS step 2 264/272 cams and valve springs were chosen and the T88-34D kit has been placed up for sale in favour of a HKS GT3037S 56T with a 0.73 A/R. Sard 1000cc injectors in a Sard rail and GReddy plenum now live in the bay too. It is all controlled by a Haltech E8 with anti-lag which I needed to get the T88 on boost (6000rpm).

Now the SR makes 391hp at the wheels on 98 pump fuel and ran 11.0 @ 131.33mph on Nitto 225's and 11.2 @ 134mph. On E85 (460hp) I have run 10.7 @ 134mph, the race weight was 2800lb with me. It isn't at it's potential yet, high 130mph is on the cards but I now plan to use a P12 '20V' head and my sleeved bottom end and of course, a bigger turbo.

Here's the link to my vids, hope you enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/profile...ideos

The old setup... Never needed to get on the brake to do this! The Prodrive GC-06's with lower profile rubber did wonders for the handling

Bit of an update, well since my last post I put on a T04Z and tuned it up to 609hp @ wheels on 36psi. Took it to the strip and went 9.6 @ 144.63mph on M/T ET Street Radials. 60ft was 1.464.

After that put a Precision 6265 on it, 39psi made 651hp @ wheels, never took it to the track but ran it on a slippery runway and it trapped 149mph.

Now my new setup is almost ready to hit the strip, see below.
It's an SR20VET, Precision turbo with custom specs, custom grind cams, still a 2L engine.

Here's another update, took the car to the drags a couple of weeks ago and had a good result. Next up will be a bit more boost and another shot at it. I actually believe that there is more in it the 60ft, I guess we'll have to wait and see :)

At the risk of exposing myself as a tool who knows nothing about cars, and less about drag....

Whats that noise when it sounds like you're hitting a limiter, but you're at mid rpms, before you take off?

It's called an auxiliary rev limiter. I have it set up on a button on the steering wheel, when I hold it down and the throttle flat it will stop the revs at whatever I set it to through the Haltech. I adjust the revs depending on traction, on that launch I had it on 6500rpm and it builds about 5psi.
There is also an anti-lag feature on the Haltech which retards timing and adds fuel, you can build mega boost this way, great for huge burnouts or cars running a big tyre.

Here’s a bit footage of the car on the Motive 16 DVD Drag Battle preview soon to be released. It’s an annual drag meeting on an airstrip about 5 hours drive from Sydney.

It will give you guys a bit of a taste of Australia’s import scene. These are amongst the fastest cars on the East Coast, there basically isn’t anything slower than a 10 second car here, but the traction on the airport makes things difficult!

.....That dude is too happy about crashing cars. But given his enthusiasm, I would have liked to see the white skyline (i think) that started to spin before the camera cut.....

Muchos gracias for the limiter explanation.

Bit more of an update, put some Plazmaclamps on prior to a recent photo shoot on Sydney's fastest street cars. I did this to delete the silicone hoses from the throttle body and for my intercooler piping.
Plazmaman is an Australian company involved with a lot of race teams nationally and world wide, they also top notch quality parts for street cars. Check out their website http://www.plazmaman.com as they have a few bits for SR's and RB's.

Here a shot I took with my phone, the Ford Capri next to me has a Lexus V8 twin turbo in it and has run 8.3 @ 164mph on radials
Image

This shot was taken just before I lined this GT-R up in the final of the Motive DVD drag battle in 2010. It's a great DVD if you like watching Jap turbocharged cars race on a street surface

Some drag pics from last time out

I love this shot

If all goes well, will be tuning Saturday and racing next Sunday with some more power!

Damn son, in the words of Jeremy Clarkson, "Put your foot down, and instantly you're somewhere else, very very far away from where you were."

That's all I could think of watching your drag vids :dblthumb:

Here are some more updated vids:
This is the incar of a powerskid, I drop the clutch in 3rd and pull 4th straight away without using the brake. They're pretty popular over this side of the world, Aussies have a fascination with tyre smoke :)

My friend and I went out on a weekly Wednesday night street meeting over here and had a bit of fun, he also runs a SR20VET.

Turned the boost a bit for this one (41psi) on C16, needed to take some power out of 1st, oh well...next time! If I can nail another 1.2-1.3 60ft I will be in the mid 8's. Hope to hit that goal next week.

Switched to a slick and have been back on pump E85 for the last year, driven about 3,000 road miles this year too so have had plenty of enjoyment out of it.
