How's the mileage on that flat 4 at cruising speed?

About 20 MPG at 90 MPH. Effectively a bit better, since I can fly directly to a destination instead of following a series of roads. Of course, the Versa can carry four people comfortably, and the plane only has one seat ("For my baby and me," like Kimber's favorite song goes).

Aviation gasoline is over $5 a gallon, but I feed my plane the same gas as my Versa. When I get done flying, I drop a couple of gas cans in the trunk, drive to the local gas station, fill them up and top off the Versa's tank, then head back to the airport to pour the gas into the plane.

The ironic thing is, the plane cost less to buy than the Versa did.... although between hangar rents and annual inspections by a licensed mechanic, it's a lot more expensive to own.
