hey fellas, i been non the forums a while now, never got around to posting my project. Anyway its a 1996 s14 silvia, swapped in a rb20det from a skyline gts4...... currently running

rb26 intake manideatch 740cc injectorsharness by Carl Hrom tune by Carl H (ostrish emulation)270* 8.8 lift intake cam / exhaust cam stock as the tomei one broke on installhks cam gearsz32 maf ( blow through)fet sport 2mm metal head gasketobx racing exhaust mani (ebay crap)44mm wastegate, venting to airgreddy td06-25G ( 8cm^2 )manual boost controller set at 20psi

anyway my question is .. anyone have any experience with that sized turbo on... a 20......im not seeing boost till about 5000rpm..full boost around 6000... rough estimate.......however the waste gate seems to crack around 2500-3000rpm range.......is this amount of lag usual .. Carl says its cuz the compressor is huge.....i just expected less lag due to the small hot side.. also it should be noted that between gears there is also some lag...any ideas?..............base timing is set...cam gears are set as well.......

sorry engine bay is pretty nasty right now....just swapping to a j30 igniter havent been bothered to clean her up yet

manifold..

Why don't you check your cam timing? and put the stock intake back in? why bother with the super huge intake cam and super small exhaust cam? Stock is what 240deg? and not even 8.8lift. Did you follow the directions when installing the cams? If you don't losen them right or run the caps down in the right order you will crack them. the 5k spool does seem really bad even tho that 8cm exhaust housing is huge. See if u can find a 6cm exhaust housing and switch that out.

You said "however the waste gate seems to crack around 2500-3000rpm range"

Why don't you adjust the Wastegate????If its opening too early then its diverting exhaust gas around your turbine. Therefore you wont be making any boost.

You need to re-adjust your MBC.I'm not a fan of them, but they do work.As long as it holds boost and does what its supposed to do then your good.

Also check your vacuum lines too, make sure everything is cool.

i actuallly was ahead of him for 1st and 2nd gear...not bad with my open diff....

fitting the intake mani was pretty routine... cut the runners and flange off the 20 intake and fitted...it to teh 26 plenum......just a **** load of aluminium welding......the mani...fit is perfect.. as lining up on the studs.... dont the the wastegate runner would clear lhd steering rack........and the blow through setup i cant complain at alll... ...idles like glass.. as carl would say.....absolutely no problems with stalling or any of that.......id recommend the blow through setup anyday........about the s13 wing.. lol its no that bad..?

At this point its time to figure out what wheels i willl be running, any suggestions guys ?

Carl 22psi should be pushed into it just as soon as put on the new clutch, lsd and do some logging to make sure the AF's are where they need to be.

I concur.

If you're hitting boost that late, I'd check settings on boost controller as well. I wasn't hitting boost till 5.5/6k on my rb20 and T04E. The wastegate was opening way too soon. Swapped out EBC's and now I hit boost a good 1k sooner. You have cams, and a T3 exhaust housing. You should be hitting it a hell of a lot sooner. You said you fixed the problem with base timing... etc. Where are you boosting at now? Any whp numbers? What fuel are you running? Is your car a RHD conversion or a real silvia?

Your engine bay needs cleaning up of misc hoses to go with that pretty paint

The car is a true Silvia Q's s14...straight from japland......since i resolved the issue with the cams im seeing around 13psi at about 4000 rpm helll of an improvement........we have no dyno here..so as far as whp goes i have no clue....and yeah the bay is going to be cleaned up..some how ....when we made the gtr mani they fitted the aac stuff on top of the plenum... makes for an ugly mess with hoses...illl update the thread as soon as i clean her up some

a little update with pics and vids. Currently I'm gathering parts to assemble a 2.7L motor using a rb25 as a base.

hey guys in in the process of installing an rb26 inlet manifold on my rb20det
we will me needing the space to install our top mount turbo manifold and new turbo

Ive heard that you lose hp is this true? if so what kind of power loss do you get?

Right now we are building the car as an every day car that we can take to the drag strip on weekends

Our project is a Mitsubishi sigma we used this as it has a very light weight body (its about 996kg) way lighter than i GTS skyline or a cefiro
the motor bolted up very nice in its engine bay, we also swapped the stock 3.5:1 rear end for a 4.3:1 rear the 3.5 was a bit sluggy

the motor setup we are running rite now is

*stock rb20 motor
*300zx 45v3 t3 turbo
*turboXS boost controller
*12 psi boost
*blitz bov
*blitz LM 3" intercooler
*2.5 intercooler piping
*3" free flow stainless exaust
*apexi n1 tail pipe
*rebuilt gear box
*upgraded ecu flashedremaped by raymond of ems tuning( also no speed/boost or fuel cuts )
*fidanza 4.3 Performance 6puc ceramic Clutch (exeddy street clutch was slipping)
*NGK iridium spark plugs
*3 core
*All oil seals and belts changed
*walbro external fuel pump

other upgrades coming soon
*adjustable cam gears
*Cometic head gasket
*ARP bolts
*high flow turbo manifold
*Garret gt30r or Turbonetics GTK ball bearing
*Tiial wastgate
*Greddy or Haltech engine management system tuned to about 20psi
*550cc nismo injectors
*sard fuel press reg
*water/meth injection kit
then we may prob change the cams
