How did you go about getting the letters red while keeping the rest metallic?

Were the calipers leaking? Boots torn? What is entailed in rebuilding them? What did that rebuild kit cost you (is that a kit or were you just taking it apart and reassembling it)?

To tell you the truth candela...after dissasembling, I deemed a rebuild kit an unecessary expense. I inspected everything and everything was w/in spec. In definition, "rebuilding" means replacing parts which do not pass a certain standard, whether it'd be with good used ones or new parts. All the clips and bolts just needed some tlc, nothing more. And brake pads seemed like a wiser priority in my opinion.

So in retrospec, if you are doing it right w/expenses in mind, I'd say inspect everything, clean it really good, and reassemble. Of course, many may disagree, but most caliper rebuilding sites I searched through agreed w/my decision. Remember that all the shims are stainless steel or zinc coated, and the boots are made w/high temperature silicons.

hehe....cool name sxseguy. Well, after sandblasting the calipers, I bought a can of high temp gold paint. Then I did one thin coat, let it dry and repeat. This will take care of the porosities of the aluminum and give you a shine. It will also make cleaner easier because the paint seals any small cavities or imperfections in the aluminum itself. I did three coats total, and did not need to sand any of the coats. Of course, you could sand in between coats, but this will take up more paint. Then, after that, I sanded the lettering a little to expose some aluminum, and covered it with red high temp paint and a small brush (it was either a 1 or a 2). Repeat 2 or three coats in the lettering, and voila...

Chingon...I noticed you also upgraded your rears. What are the parts needed for the rear conversion? Do I need to get e-brake cables/ complete e-brake/splash shield assembly? Can you post pics of this parts?

I actually got the knuckles (5lug hub) and splash shield as freebies. I kinda don't know what to do for ebrakes so I have to figure that out in spring break. I'll post pics soon.

the e-brake is completely different, i beleve. i think it is a drum type thing inside the rotor hat. sport compact car has a thing on it that they did a while back.
