my rear wheel breaks loose when i go over a sewer lid, why?

When i am driving it is bumby all the time and i can feel all of the bumbs on the road and i have new shocks and my right rear side keeps on breaking loose and gives me a little side whenever i go over a sewer lid on the road, please help

Hi xiong, welcome aboard!

First order of business - I'm betting your rear suspension toe adjustment is off. Get an alignment and that "skittering" will go away.

Also, if you have adjustable shocks, check your rebound and dampening settings. IIRC damping is how much force is needed to make the shock retract into the body, and rebound is how quickly it comes back out. So if they are set at opposite extremes, you might have your wheel going in really quickly, and coming out really slowly, causing a loss of traction.

Check the alignment first though.
