my rear bumper is a magnet

ok so today marks the 4th time in which my rear bumper has been hit by some buddy that wasnt paying attention (old white male on cell phone). wtf is up with people

I'd be checking my brake lights to make sure they're all working.

Then I'd be keeping a good distance from the vehicle in front to avoid heavy braking. Then before I brake, I'd be checking my rear view mirror to see what's coming up behind.

red, and every time ive been hit ive been completly stoped at a light or parked, so distance wont help

Might not be a bad idea to install a aftermarket brake light flasher for the 3rd brake light (google it). People see a basic car and automatically assume it's slow: either follow too closely or don't pay attention. It's time to get their attention.

Disclaimer: it may not be legal, but I think you have a good explanation/excuse.

The V's tail lights are kinda smallish compared to other cars these days, perhaps those annoyingly bright led brake lights a la Infiniti G series would help. I'm sure ebay would have the right led bulb array for the V.
