Well, I finally got the car over to the shop a few days ago. Its been sitting at my work since August The car runs and drives nice for sitting for months. I bought it off ebay from a guy in Cali, so the car has pretty much no rust on it. The underside is very nice and the body is straight. It has a few spots that someone fixed with bondo at the bottom of the doors but besides that, its a nice starting point. What is in store for this car you ask? Well, here's the list in a nutshell:

Built RB26 w/ TH400 transCustom fuel systemCustom driveshaftCustom FMICLSD for the R200Aftermarket gauges all aroundVarious body pieces

The body will stay pretty much stock looking, I want to concentrate under the hood. So maybe a set of 15s w/ fender flares, I have a 72 rear bumper coming, glass hood, front air dam and maybe a rear spoiler. The styling of this car doesn't need much work, its nice as is. I'm sure there's alot I'm missing but I'll update as I go along with it. Not sure what I want to do turbo wise yet, probably in the 40R area depending on $. If I find a cheap 42R or T72 I'll probably pick it up but I don't really need to go that big. 600whp in a car that weighs 2600# is enough I think I just want something thats fun to take to the track and that is unique as well. I've wanted to do a RWD import for years since after I sold my first EVO. At the time it was going to be a 4G63 FD, but they were still too much at the time. Now its 5 years later and there are a few out there, so I wanted something different which is where the Z came in.

I found a place to get the engine/harness/ecu from in Canada for 2750 shipped, can't argue with that. I hope to order it next week. Once it comes in and I start the tear down process, I'll post those pics next. Here are some pics I took today, nothing great but you get the idea of what I'm starting with:

Stay tuned for the fun

That thing should be quick as death.

How is the body / frame rust wise?

Good score man!

And I thought I had a project with my 25 into an S13.

You will keep seeing the words "custom" for.. pretty much everything.

Body is real solid from what I've seen so far. I'm glad I paid more and got a Cali car instead of trying to find out in the rust belt here that wasn't almost completely eaten away for the same $. I know a good cage and suspension will be in the cards to keep this thing going straight, should be interesting

UPDATE 4/20

Just unloaded the 26 off the truck alittle while ago and here she is

So far this project has started off great because after taking off the pallet wrap, I found that it already has a PowerFC on it, along with tubular O2 housings and maybe aftermarket turbos :. Once I get an engine stand, I'll take off the pan and see if my luck can continue with an already built bottom end. There is RTV around the pan and the head has a metal headgasket so at least the engine was apart at one time, whether thats good or bad I'll find out. Stay tuned . :

Also, I got the engine from JDM NAGOYA AUTO PARTS out of Montreal, QC. VERY GOOD customer service, great price and fast shipping, couldn't be happier. Anyone looking to get an engine from, you won't be disappointed. I talked to Wais, very helpful through the process.

They seemed straight up with me but who knows. Once I drop the pan I'll know for sure. If its a paperweight and they don't resolve it quickly, it will be chargeback time. Glad I used a CC instead of cash

Thats what I was thinking as well but I searched around and found pics of the stock turbos and they have the same #s on the compressor housings as the ones I have do. Its still possible they are bigger wheels in the stock comp housing but I won't really know until I start tearing it down.

5/2 UPDATE

Got the turbo side of the engine stripped today. What a fun job that was I'd hate to work on these all the time w/ the twins to work around, not fun lol. Turbos look to be a great shape. Not shaft play or cracked housings, should be able to resell them. Checked the bearings last night and they looked pretty nice. No major wear that I could see. Too bad no forged internals though, oh well, I'm fine with that since the bottom end was in one piece. Once I get the head off I'll see what the cylinders look like. Here are acouple pics I took:

Stripped

Extra bits

JDM y0!

Gotta love the oil pan/front diff marriage here, interesting design
