im from Canada, B.C. and i have a 89 240sx swapped rb25det and i recently went to the aircare TWICE!!! the car failed emmisions and i need some suggestion or tricks to reduce the emmisions. the car is pretty much stock just apexi intake and exhaust system. i searched everywhere on google and couldnt find anything. im tired of wasting my hard earning money so plz help me out.here are the results:driving testHC in ppm: [max allowed:91] [vehicle reading:164] [avg pass:19]CO in %: [max allowed:.77] [vehicle reading:3.18] [avg pass:.10]NOx in ppm [max allowed 1124] [vehicle reading 538] [avg pass: 515]idle testHC in ppm: [109] [21] [12]CO in %: [.83] [.01] [.02]i passed the idle test with no problem just the driving test im worrying about. before i went to the aircare place i filled it up with 89 octane gas, unplugged a vaccuum hose that connects to the recirculation valve, i think its same as a blow off valve.thanks in advance

first off you need to be running 93 (91 min) all the time, a lower octane can cause the ecu to shift to knock maps and run RICHER than normal.you also should fit the factory cat converter as they work the best to clean up emissions.the recirc valve should be connected, disconnecting it will only result in surge.

I passed well within those limits with a catalytic converter.

will octane booster be ok for the gas? cuz i have half tank right now 89 octane. and how does octane booster work? if i have 89 octane and for example i buy a bottle of like 5 octane booster does that mean i get 94 octane? 89+5=94? i have a magnaflow cat already. the reason i disconnect the vaccuum hose from the recirc valve is because i get way better results. for some reason if i connect it, the engine will run rediculously rich like 600-700 ppm of HC and 9.99 % of CO. maybe it could be caused by the gas im using right now but ill try the octane booster and ill let u guys know.thanks in advance

Most octane booster that says can raise up to 5 points is a math equation they list on the back. The only gas that it would be possible to see those gains is 110 by their equations.
