PLEASE READ alright well i dropped my bone stock rb20 in my 240 about 3 months ago since my license is suspended i have only took the car out now like 10 times for short rides(5-10) mins max, car ran good for the most part besides no rev limit, and my o2 sensor went bad on like the 7th ride, and my fuel cuts out and gives me rough revs, so to fix that problem with the fuel, i got a hks fuel cut off defender(f.c.d.), i hooked it up and started to tune the f.c.d... so after a few try's i got the tune right and it revved up beautifully and then it happened i revved it up high and the idle went down to normal and the it started sounding like it was only runing on 2 pistons, so i tried reving it up and it wouldnt allow me, it just back fired really ****ing loud so i turned it off and tied to start it... and it wouldnt start. WHAT IT DOES- it does not start the motor turns over a few times and then it feels like the motor freezes like it hits a wall, so 1st thing that came to mind was i revved it to high and skipped the timming belt and bent my valves or somthing like that, so i checked the timing and it was perfect, so i took my spark plugs out and tried turning the motor and it turned fine and didnt hit the wall of doom, so that eliminated timing for sure=) so i put the spark plugs back in and left the coil packs off so i would be getting compression but no spark, so i turned the motor over and it didnt hit the wall, so i put the coil packs on and turned it over again and it hit the wall=( so that means its somthing 2 do with the coil packs right??? im not familiar with the coil pack setup so if any1 knows what might be wrong please get back to me. oh yeah its getting spark and fuel, and i took off the f.c.d. and it still gives me the same prob. thanks for reading this and id appreciate it if sombody could help my name is vince 727-417-7076 is my cell, call me or comment this post please

Hey Vince check the codes on the ecu see what it's throwing. Could be your fuel pump took a crap or you have a boost leak maybe? dead ignitor or CAS? start by checking the codes and see what pops up and go from there.

The CAS is the crank angle sensor which is located on the front of the exhaust camshaft.

smoke from my ecu=( long story well here it goes. as you know my rb20 has not been starting, i narrowed the prob down to my ignitor. so i called a person on tamparacing.com that was selling 2 rb20's. let me explain why he is selling it(he bought a rb20redtop swaped 240sx about 5 mounths ago that had a stand alone ecu with the whole setup on the car already and already tuned, the motor started to over heat so he took out the motor and brought a rb20 silver top and installed it and tried doing the wiring and failed somewhere along the line, and does not have the software or the brains to put the stand alone ecu and wiring harness on the new rb20 so that **** is just laying on his floor collecting dust, so he wants to sell it and build a honda or some **** like that) so i call him asking if i could buy the ignitor of his silver top rb20 and he said no, so then i offered to wire up his motor for him as long as he gives me cash(cuz im broke and dont have the money to buy the ignitor at the moment) so he said yeah so i went over his house 2 look at the wiring and the **** was whack but fixable then i saw the stand alone setup chilling on the floor and i was like ill wire ur car up for that, and he said sure so i looked up how much the setup was worth $1215$ and i just have to do some modification and find the software. so i setup a day with him that i could go over his house and wire his car up(friday). but before i left he said i could take his ignitor box that came on his rb20 silver top so i could get my car running untill friday, so when i went to take it off his car i noticed it was a j30 setup so i brought it home and hooked it up thinking that it was setup correctly and then my ecu started to smoke, so i called him up and i told him what happened and he is still going to give me the stand alone setup, BUT I STILL NEED A IGNITOR BOX... does any1 now where i could get 1 besides the j30 setup becuase i no longer trust that setup thanks for reading

there is nothing wrong with converting over to a j30 ignitor as long as it was done correctly.my car has been running over 2 years off of one, there is a problem in the wiring if the ecu is smoking.
