That EFR is going to kick a**!! I'm really interested in seeing how this whole setup works.

I considered an RB22/24 but I just would have done a built 25, purely for the better flowing stock head. But it makes sense for you. Looks good, finish it this time!! :P

Getting closer :mike

The bottom end is finally together with the 82mm pistons and rb26 crank/rods. It's at the machine shop right now getting the rotating assembly balanced.

Here's how everything sits right now in the car using the old block/head for mock up. We finished the IC piping, downpipe, catch can, oil lines, and a whole bunch of other little things. Still need to get the new parts powdercoated/ceramic coated.

Should have some big updates coming soon. I WILL finish this project, lol.

I'm back!

Late replies.

Yellow: I did have some headwork done, just a valve job and port/polish.

StricNyne: Still haven't run the car yet with this turbo, but fitment is perfect on my setup. My buddy had the same turbo on his SR and it was freaking amazing. Pulled very strong and the response was extremely impressive, which is just what I'm looking for.

Corey: Thanks for the kind words buddy, I cant wait till everything is up and running. It's the smallest of things that have held up progress but it's getting there.

So the engine is finally together with the 2.4L setup!

And it's in the car.

AEM v2 is on its way as well :)

Still a TON of little things to get done, but she's coming along nicely

More updates to follow...

Still not quite finished yet, but getting very close.

I finally got the AEM V2

Image

Replaced the CAS trigger wheel with the AEM one

Image

I had to run vacuum lines from each runner to a vacuum block to get an accurate reading for the MAP sensor and for the brake booster.

Image

Image

Next up I got everything polished and then powdercoated with a semi-transparent black to give it a black chrome look.

Image

Image

Final mock up

Image

Image

and where we are today, everything pulled apart for the last time(hopefully) getting prepped for paint. all the unused holes in the engine bay are getting shaved and all the bodywork on the car is getting taken care of.

Lots of progress and more to come :woot:

Using a map sensor to tune part throttle areas with ITB's will be difficult and very touchy, i used TPS for a load source and a map correction table for when it goes into boost...

what did you do with the IACV?

Here we are almost a year later, lol.

As far as the tuning goes, I have no idea. I really don't know the first thing about tuning, I plan on having Tony@UMS tune it. IACV is gone, so it's just idling off of the throttle bodies.

Still a bunch of work to do, but it's getting close :woot:

Ok, I have a few questions:

How long of runners did you leave from the stock RB20 lower runners?
Is there a location for the IACV on the RB26 plenum?
I am assuming you used a stock RB26 crank and RB26 rods or RB25 rods? What year Rb26 crank did you use (R32/33/34?)
What cams/valves/springs are you using?
How difficult was it to install the crank and rods? Was it a direct fitment?
Are you using the stock RB20 fuel rail, or one different? If so, where did you find it, what size injector are you running, what fuel pressure regulator?

I only ask because my stock internals RB20DET in my GTST crapped out. I lost the front and last cylinder. I actually am planning on doing basically what are doing. I already have a Power FC, RB26 IAT, T3/T04E, Bosch 044 in tank pump. My plan was to leave stock since I could not really find someone doing what you are doing so I decided to just replace with CP pistons in stock bore/stroke/comp ratio and replace bearings throughout, along with the expensive Supertech 1 mm oversize valves and springs and port/polished head. I currently have GTR 444 cc injectors with the resister pack, but was planning on 75injectors. I also have the Splitfire coils and the Tomei PonCams.

What boost are you planning for? Do you plan for anything other than pump? I was running 20 psi through the stock set up, and was planning the same after with maybe a water/meth injection kit to help as E85 is scarce and I do not plan to run C16. Sorry for the questions, but I have been researching and researching and you are basically doing exactly what I was planning on, just never found someone who is doing it or has any real reliable info. Thanks for the time man. Look forward to hearing from you.

^ sorry for the year late reply

The runners are about 3" long

No IACV

Stock 26 crank with collar and 26 Eagle rods, not sure what year the crank is tho.

Stock cams/valves with Tomei valve springs

The crank dropped right in with 26 bearings, but the CP pistons I used needed to be notched a little for the oil squirters

Stock fuel rail with 550cc Deatchwerks injectors and an Aeromotive FPR

No set boost in mind, just whatever the turbo and engine will safely handle.

Right now I'm on pump gas, but I wanna run a flex fuel setup for E85/pump in the near future.

So the car has come quite a ways in he past year. It finally idles and revs smoothly

Awesome. Thanks for the reply, but I am in works for an RB22.4 myself.

80 mm Wiseco pistons armor coated
Manley forged RB26 rods
N1 RB26 crankshaft
N1 Oil pump
Ni water pump
Supertech 1 mm over sized valves
Supertech springs
port polished head
Raw Brokerage intake manifold
740 injectors-Bosch
custom fuel rail
Precision 5858
44mm ext wastegate

This build was an inspiration by the way. I am just waiting on the crankshaft. Everything else is here.

^ Thanks man, sounds like it's gonna be an awesome build. What numbers are you shooting for?

Made a lot of progress this past week, I'm hoping to have the car ready for tuning in the next couple of weeks depending on how long it takes for parts to get here.

I just installed my Gaugeart setup a few days ago.

I'm really happy with it so far. I just uploaded this awesome design created by "OKI-BOY" and changed the color scheme to better fit my car.

Did you pick up a meth kit for your car yet? If not jump on it, well worth it :).

Honestly, not looking for huge numbers so much as reliability and response. Everything on this build is there to help max out performance. If it makes 475 rwhp, I will be surprised. Since I still have the RB20 trans, I do not want to push too hard. I have a Precision 5858 turbo going on, so not huge, but not tiny so response should be great. I want a usuable power band, not some stupid number.

When this trans lets go, because it is a matter of when, not if, I will go RB25 trans and change turbos and going to go for 550-575 rwhp then. Right now, just wanting to enjoy it again.

It's on 18psi right now with pump gas(e85 in the near future).

Go figure the last 2 days its been raining here in the desert haha. I went for a quick spin around the block but haven't gotten anywhere near full throttle or high rpm yet, I have R888's on the back and hear they don't like cold or wet weather so I didn't wanna push it.

Hey currently im completing this setup and I have a few questions.

For the air regulator and the AAC valve, How did you rout the vacuum lines? and do you have any pics of your vacuum and coolant lines being routed?

Thanks
