So I work with this guy who's a huge domestic fan. He has a 67 superbee with a 440 that runs low 13s. When i first told him about the s-chassis rb20 swap, and that it would run 13s in stock trim, he said there's no way in hell that that "2 liter wiz-banger" would pull 13s. Sure as s***, i ran a 13.89. He was pretty surprised to say the least. Friendly smack talking ensues.

I told him my next step is going to net me 12s:

HY35DW 450cc injectorswalbro 255meagan FPRNistune3" exhaustclutch of some sortvlsd205 MT ET street radials

Now theres a $50 bet on it (but you know its worth so much more than that ), he said he's upgrading the heads, and putting a cam in it to get into the 12s. He's got all the domestic loving guys from his home town coming to this race that will be sometime in the summer. I need to show these guys whats up!

What do you think the setup above will run me safely? I was thinking high 12s. I was also thinking of adding head studs, rod bolts and a quality head gasket to the build.

I'll also update this with pics of the build.

LOL thats funny.

Good build, but forget the rod bolts. The bottom end can spin 7200 reliably just feed it good oil through a good stock pump. Messing with the bottom end can open up a giant can of worms.

As far as the HG/studs, just get ARP studs and a OEM head gasket kit. The OEM head gasket is good for 500whp, and seals easier and better then MLS gaskets.

The MLS gaskets require the whole bottom end torn down and the block decked to ensure perfect sealing.

And Id get some 550 injectors, since the 450s would be at their limit if you pushed the Hy35. It should barely be any different in price too. Check out rickys precision injectors. They are cheap and go up to 880's.

Oh and get the widest stickest tire you can afford. 275s have no problem fitting in stock s13 fenders.

And as far as the clutch, check out southbend clutches. I have a stage2 and its freaking awesome. Super smooth and its super durable and moderately priced.

you can put on a rb25 turbo and a tune and be in mid to high 12's... with the hy i would hope for low 12's depending on boost levels... im going with a hx35 tuned on e85 on my rb20 and shooting for low to mid 11's...

o and i ran a 13.7 on street tires and a busted intercooler and worn out spark slugs... before i change setups imma try for twelves on the stock turbo w/o spraying

Lol. To hell with it then. Ill just leave it stock. Or what? How much would arp head studs increase what i can throw at it?

Reason for the 450s is i got a hell of a deal on them. They've been tested and cleaned and are ready for action. They should be good to 350-400whp no?

Damnit man. I bought the 205s last season cuz it was late in the season and thats all they had. The beauty was i just put them on a steel rim. Im hoping to not spin them with this setup.

Yeah I've heard good things about the southbend clutches... I may have to grab one. That or RPS.

Eh? I had drag radials with upped boost and i could not for the life of me beat 13.89, i even had a 1.8 second 60'. I actually think i was shifting too LATE, the turbo was falling on it's face.

I'd do the OEM HG and arp head studs no matter what, the studs are reusable for futue builds and old HG's tend to blow any way.

My rb had 2400 street miles on it, and 15min of drifting on track blew the head gasket.

The injectors are good for almost 450hp, with 6cyls 1cc=1hp with no safety margin.

No big deal on the tires but the wider the better, it is a race to be a 11/12 second car though!

Yeah i think ill do the head studs just for the cheap insurance. 350whp should be WELL into the 12s with proper shifting, slicks and vlsd or what?

Ill keep this thread updated as soon as i can get off my lazy a**.
