My RB20 turned into a VW Bug somehow

I got this weird exhaust sound as of late, sounds like a VW Bug, all putputputput through all 5 gears. My first instinct was I was missing on a cylinder, but its intermittent, so I dont know if thats the issue or not. I would think missing on a cylinder wouldnt cut in and out randomly.

But ya, it happens when its cold, warm, all gears, boosting, unboosted, etc. and comes on and off at will. I also contracted the deadly pig-rich after 4k disease, gotta track that down too. I remember I had pulled a code for the coolant temp sensor a little while ago but it went away, so Ill check the ECU again and see if thats causing my limp-mode.

Kinda sounds like a bad coil pack. or one thats about to call it quits.

fixed the 4k rich problem, had an IC pipe slip a tad. I also havent had the putputput thing happen tongiht so maybe it solved both, gonna have to wait and see I guess.

I was thinkin an exhaust leak of some type, but it robs a lot of power, so I didnt think it was the prob. Would that occur while it was cold and warm? Also, how would I test for that, wait till it starts doing it again and smell for exhaust under the hood?

I havent noticed any soot in the bay.
