when you replace the radiator recommend a t-stat and a rad cap. the radiator cracked most likely from excesive pressure in the system.

Sounds to me like you should've replaced (or upgrade like I do) the thermostat and radiator cap. These are the only two things that can rust and get stuck in a closed position to hold in pressure. If that pressure was suddenly released and it was to hot and pressurized, yeah, I could see the plastic radiator busting open.

Koyo is a good brand if you decide to get a new one.

Hey 98KA24DET! What is it with you and the word "death, died, bled, etc." Get a life. These are real mechanics talking, who actually race our 240 on a real track, not the streets, using real mechanical lingo. Get serious in this forum section or get bent!

Obviously you've never heard of personification... i.e. the attribution of personal qualities to an inanimate object.

Nothing wrong with saying his radiator 'died' or 'bled to death' perfectly acceptable use of grammar in my book ;)

that's right! IT DIED AND BLED!

C'mon, back to the subject. If you have an SR20, you have lots of JDM options to choose from. with a little imagination, these can be made to work on the U.S. 240SX. If you have to get a us radiator get the heavy duty on with an all metal contruction. Most aftermarket companies offer this as well, very easy to find. try 1-800-radiator

If you had a life you wouldn't be on here correcting his english when we all know exactly what he's talking about. :)

Back to the original poster/author, how many miles did you have on the stocker? I'm trying to figure out how much life is left in my stock radiator. I have just over 100k miles on it now.

If you have an SR20DET and do not have a FMICthen the stock radiator from USDM will not workyou need a JDM one

KOYO makes one for the SR20

or you can go to a jukyard to measure some american cars and then see which one fits and get the all aluminum version made (cheaper)

Lots of guys use their ka24e/ka24de radiators for the swap with no fmic. I for one used my ka rad with my smic on my sr and everything worked fine and gravy. You just have to find the right hoses or you can order the kit straight from heavy throttle.

my 1992 just ruptured the stock radiator plastic tank at 197,000 miles

These are the only two things that can rust

there's this new stuff called anti-freeze-nothing will rust with it-besides rust is a small problem-the corrosion will eat all aluminum parts before rust is an issue-anti-freeze also stops that too
