Finally trying to break in my Q. my Q is a 93 model,im not sure what years have the first gear start TCU i thought 93 did but it doesnt feel like it or maybe something else is wrong, im not sure.

When i push pedal all the way to the floor to get up and go,it wont get up and go! It will get there but slowly, ivenever drove a Q45 before but from what i hear they are prettyfast cars for their size.My Q picks up speed slowly even when you stomp it deosntkickdown and rev up the rpms like all automatics do whenyou stomp the accelerator to the floor

Another question im concerned with is its running3,000 RPM,S at 60mph is that normal for the Q?Any clues what my problems might be with these 2issues?I would appreciate the help. thanks

Wonder if it is fail safe mode? Everything connected correctly?

Neighborhood rebuild or Nissan remanufactured unit?

Brian i bought it from a local shop that specializes in rebuildinggearboxes, transfer cases, transmissions, etc, they are a reputableshop, supposedly.

what is the fail safe mode and how do you know if its in failsafe mode?

Sounds like it is stuck in failsafe mode to me {locked in third gear} usually an electrical problem, check operation of throttle position sensor and run diagnostic using dash screen method outlined here on the forums

I also think your transmission may be stuck in fail-safe mode which is 3rd gear only.

In 4th gear:2000RPM = 60mph2500RPM = 80mph (1994) 70mph (for my 1993)3600RPM = 120mph

The top two gears and the differential ratios are the same for all G50.

Only the lower two gear aratios are different.

Yep, that sounds like what was happening to me a couple weeks ago. (At the time I thought it was 2nd gear I was stuck in, but after some time with the car I realized it was 3rd)

Any errors showing on the diagnostic display? Have you tried running the transmission self-diagnostic?

how do you run a diagnostic using dash screen method, and what exactlydo you mean by dash screen(climate control screen?!) and what areyou running a diagnostic on, the transmission? please help and dont sayuse the search button because i havent had much luck with it!what electrical problem could i have? i plugged in all the connections correctly where they plug in at tail shaft of transmission and the only other plug is the one that plugs in to bellhousing end by starter.

i dont know if anyone remembers or not but i spoke of a clickingsound coming from transmission when key was in on posistionbefore i put fluid in it,some thought it was normal and normallyisnt heard because transmission is usually full of fluid. well i can still hear it slightlydont know if this has any thing to do with it

The diagnostic feature is explicitly explained in the FSM. It will allay your fears of missed or inoperative connections (did you check that the TCU was connected securely?). If you pass that, time to visit your neighborhood tranmission guy.
