Damn. Yours rub? I was going to use your setup as my model. I love the way it looks.mxr662 wrote:I like the look of the wheels on your Q.
This post would be good here: zerothread?id=223195. Maybe a mod can move it.
My 17" coupe wheels rub in the front and back.
It's definitely different. I haven't seen too many black rims on Q's, just thought I'd give it a try. I don't like the super glossy rims - I went with a satin finish instead.Haitian_King wrote:Doink, the black on the green makes it look weird. No offense. I've just never been a fan of black wheels. I can tolerate them more if they're glossy.
Did you do all that yourself? Is all that primer? It's not bad. Makes it look dangerous. Way better than the battleship gray primer. The black makes it look like it's getting ready for something AMAZING.anlasak wrote:Looks pretty good.
I've actually been considering getting a set , oem silver, for my Q.
The ones I have now came black from the factory & no rubbing.
Really? I bet you mean tires as there is more variability there.mxr662 wrote:My 17" coupe wheels rub in the front and back.
I would have chosen 255/40s. See if you can get them changed, hopefully it's not too late. Like others said I'm not big on black rims. It's almost like they hide the design of the car or something. I think the silver ones would've made it "pop" more. Just my 0.02.DoinkMobb wrote:.....
The rims are 18x8 30 offset from a G35 coupe. The tires are 245/40/18 Sumitomo HTR Z III. I think the offset is perfect, the wheels look like they'll be pretty flush once I lower it. Should I go with black lugs, or keep the silver ones?
And suprisingly, my suspension doesn't feel nearly as mushy as it did with the horrible all seasons that were on there before. I've only driven about 10 miles on the new rims/tires, but it's quite a difference.
Oodles of reading and lots of trial and error, so autodidatic.Haitian_King wrote:You're a skilled auto painter? Did you have formal training or was it autodidatic?
Cool. I'm interested in learning to paint. I just don't want to ruin my Q by doing it incorrectly. I still want to keep my color, just want to add more depth. Give it that deep, wet look.anlasak wrote:

I would've paid about $150 more for the cheapest 255/40s. Plus they would weigh about 4 lbs more per tire and have a larger rolling diameter. An extra 1/2" of tread isn't really that important to me.ddrumman wrote:

Looks good never the less.
Exactly! It would have been 26" or 26.1" which is optimum. 215/65/15 which is OEM is 26.1"DoinkMobb wrote:

It's not just rollng diameter but load rating. PS2 are not inexpensive, but they are great.ddrumman wrote:

I do understand about the extra $ though.
My Sumitomos have a 97Y load rating.I have no doubt that PS2s are great but are they worth the $152 premium per tire over the Sumitomos?maxnix wrote:It's not just rollng diameter but load rating. PS2 are not inexpensive, but they are great.
