Had her for some years now.Read lots of posts from others saying how their cars pull.Strange thing is,I put it in second and gave it my normal amount of gas and she took off.Put it in first no torque, back to second...stuck to my seat.Could this be some indicator of a trans problem or something just not adjusted right? I feel that she has been well taken care of,and she returns the love by starting all but 4 times since ownership.Any thoughts?

I agree with melvin, about bad knock sensors. I had my Q for years before realizing I needed to change the knock sensors and when I finally did, I was able to spin the wheels on dry pavement, from take-off, for the first time. Acceleration from standstill is greatly improved with properly operating knock sensors.

Had em done with injectors. Seems if I put it in first she pulls hard, but if left in drive it's so so. Never red lined or peeled out.

I'm assuming the car is warming up to normal operating temperature? When it's cold, either from just being started or a bad thermostat seal, it will lock out 1st sometimes...

In almost 300,000 miles of being behind the wheel of my Q,I have never had it "lock out of 1st gear" while operating in sub freezing winter weather, even when pulling away on a stone cold engine. It will stay out of overdrive when operated in those conditions to allow quicker engine warmup however,as designed.

Are all 1990-1996 TCU units compatible? Maybe yours was replaced by a previous owner with that of a 1990-92 unit that has second gear start?

I had "transmission malfunction" indicator come on this winter and it would not go into first gear even if I put it there. Restarting the car solved that for me.

On another note,

GO SYRACUSE! :woot:
