i did run across a Q at a junk yard and offer 100bucks for the spare tire and the rear speakers and he said he couldnt do it. so i left and hadnt been back since. i think iwill try once more

Well, the novelty wore off so I'm selling it to a friend of mine. The act of 'driving' gets in the way of watching movies, and at night its just a nuisance. I'm keeping the amp and subs though.

Meanwhile, I'm shopping around for a nice, understated Nakamichi head unit.

From Dual to Nakamichi... that's a jump! I always used 4 gauge welding cable for my amp power wires. It's cheaper than buying equivalent quality car audio power wire. I agree, get a fuse for the main power wire and put it as close to the battery terminal as possible. A short without the fuse doesn't just mean a possible killed battery, but also a potential fire that can cook the whole car.

I think you should move the A/C controls to the bottom, but the radio in the A/C location, and then the screen would be higher, so you can keep your eyes on the road better while watching movies. You could re-routhe the A/C ducts below the A/C controls, and put a center channel speaker where the A/C ducts were.
