So i got my project underway sorry no pics yet all we have is a cell phone. Blacktop S13 good amount of mods. Alright reason for the build and/or fix about a month ago transmission starts acting weird on me, normal driving everything is alright but at full throttle ether its blowing the tires off are the clutch was slipping really hard to tell. Well long story short, wasn't the tires i adjusted the clutch pedal and it grab hard are something and it broke, real weird situation i still don't know what really happened until i fully remove the transmission. I do know this i pulled the starter off and dear god it IS a fried clutch, strong smell, it was sitting at our shop for a month and the smell was very strong hit me like a ton of bricks.

So I've already removed the drive shaft and most of the bolts from the transmission 2 are in a tight place near the down pipe near the turbo P.I.T.A. So here is a question i can get a j30 diff, axles, and hubs for like 120 bucks good deal but they are a 93-94 models by what i was reading this diff and axles will work but what about the hubs then i can swap it to 5 lug by using the j30 hubs and brakes

A short search would have helped you, but yes, you can use q45 5 lugs and brakes. Proven all over this site.

zerosearch Go here and type "Q45 brakes".

that had nothing to go with j30 rear brakes. now i have come across just popping the bearing out and putting the s13 in but as far as i can see it works for the front, what about the rear

So started to pull the transmission and I'm stuck the top of transmission is hitting the firewall and i tried loosening the motor mounts still couldn't get it to drop dang it. I'm thinking of dropping the sub-frame a little and trying it that way don't know out of ideas for tonight. So i think I've got it down on what I'm going to do. I'm getting J30 hubs for the front press out the bearings and put in s13 bearings and just buy the bolt on 5 lugs for the rear and for my diff i'm getting a 93 or 94 J30 diff. My brother ordered my clutch for my 21st birthday so i should be seeing that soon Exedy stage 2 3 puck. Gonna get a buddy to come out tomorrow are Wednesday to take pictures of what has been done so far.

I had the same problem with getting the transmission out. We had the car on a lift and jacked the motor up until we could pull it out. It was a very tight fit. I ended up putting an Exedy stage 2 clutch in mine, I am pretty happy with it. I would recommend keeping the stock flywheel though, I put a fidanza lightened flywheel in mine and now I am having stalling problems. Good luck with the build and post up some pictures when you get a camera.

yeah mine is on jack stands so a little harder and the jack is holding the trans up or to catch it really don't know if i can use it to jack the motor up also. i'll figure out something. I'm gonna take a hammer to the fire wall so that doesn't happen again LOL.

not really a good update but something. Buddy is coming maybe tomorrow with the camera. I helped another friend move his vw bug so he let us borrow some snips to cut the brake dust shield that's about it are shop is 15 miles way from were we live so we could not stay long tonight. Mainly we analyzed the problem of the trans hitting the fire wall so tomorrow we are borrowing a cherry picker and load leveler to raise the motor a tad to get the transmission loose. Saturday we are heading to panama city to check out a junk yard maybe we can find something good.

I just did a clutch job on my 240 a couple weeks ago, and all you have to do is tilt the motor back. I put a piece of wood on my jack and pushed up on the harmonic balancer. Not that hard, just enough to tilt the motor. Although I didn't need to do that to get the transmission out, only when I put it in.

But trust me, if you have an engine hoist, PULL THE MOTOR. Its not that much more work at all, and I spent 5hrs putting the transmission back in. That was just going from new clutch was just installed and transmission laying out of the car, to one/two bolts holding it in. Its a GIANT PITA. And Ive done it a few times.

I did it the same way your doing it now, on jack stands in my grandpas garage. If I had known my neighbor had a engine hoist i would have used it.

You did take the shifter out too right? If you didn't take off all the boots and then take the snap ring that holds the shifter in and your set.

If you take the motor out, take the ps pump off the engine and tie it to the car, and same with the AC if you have it. Other then that its really easy.

So update, removed the transmission tonight finally and the pressure plate. All i can say is damn the clutch disc exploded and disintegrated. I finally got some really good pics but my computer will not read the sd card for some reason but i did get some with the cell phone. I received my monster clutch yesterday Exedy stage 2 3 puck nastiness LOL.

Oh BTW, I'm thinking maybe just welding the diff and saving some coin. Gonna buy a J30 diff and re-shim it, for when i break the welded one.

Pics!(More to come soon!)

well originally it started as a joke because someone broke my overflow tank but everyone thought it was funny so we left it. It is the first thing everyone sees when i pop the hood not the hks bov are the intake just "whats the mountain dew bottle for," to date one person knew what it was for and hey it does what i need it to. If the think that is ghetto you should see the pipe i used for the intake side because mine didn't come with it, the one that goes from the intercooler piping to the throttle body. The first part is rubber then a metal pipe about 12 inches long with a 45 degree bend back to rubber I used a chrome shower head for like 4 bucks

Yeah the tag was a joke too everyone wanted something cool i wanted something funny a lot of people don't get it.
