My QX4 has 145,000 miles on it and I just got it out of the shop because it broke down on me a few days ago. The fuel system was all messed up and I had to get the fuel filter changed (for the second time), the fuel pump changed, and the fuel injectors cleaned (all in all $1000). About 25,000 miles ago I had to get a new torque convertor on my transmission (another $1700). My car rocks horribly on the interstate, its pretty dangerous, so i brought it to mechanic and he changed all the linkages in the front and changed all the shocks, trying to fix it (another $1200). Still rocks, so I just found out i need to change the bushings in upper and lower control arms in the back, so that should be fun considering I need to bring it to a machine shop. The ac motor went out back when it had about 90,000 on it ($350). My drivers side headlight shorts out and i have to hit it to make it come back on. Got stranded on the highway with a trailer cause my mass air flow sensor went otu (another $150). Hmmm am I forgetting something. O yea I have a horrible exhaust leak by my flex joint and think I smell exhaust in the cab and my car sounds like a go kart. It has a small oil leak now too. The cd player on my bose face unit doesnt work and the buttons are falling off, good thing the cd cahnger still works. This does no even include the fact I had to do 'regular maintenence' of changing the shocks twice, fan belts, spark plugs, brakes, oil, transmission and differential fluid, had to cut off my back exhaust pipe cause part of it fell off due to rust. Well it still looks pretty good cause the paint held up pretty. I did go mudding in it a few times and got stuck, and the streets in my neighbor hood are horriffic. All in all. I was going to buy a Nissan Titan when this car finally craps out, but I don't think so anymore.

Domestic? What car does Canada make?

Smackdadde: I feel your pain. Mine has not been as trouble free either. Still better than a lot, but not every QX4 is a champ. It's the risk you take when buying used. Can't comlain though, I've gotten 75K miles that have been mostly trouble free. But I'm about where you are: If I want another 75K+ miles, I'm going to need to drop just about as much money as you have.

I'd say get the Titan, get it new. Nothing like a warranty and the TItan doesn't look like it'll be around anytime soon.

Windsor, Ontario - Dodge Caravan, Chrysler Pacifica (NLP = no longer produced)Brampton, Ontario - Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Magnum (NLP), Chrysler 300/300CAlliston, Ontario - Honda Civic, Acura CSXCambridge (i think), Ontario - Toyota Matrix, Lexus RX330Oshawa, Ontario - GMC Sierra, Chevy Silverado....plant closingOakville, Ontario - Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, Ford Flex, New Lincoln SUV Crossover to be made next quarter (MK...S? i forget)

good enough? oh and we have thousands of parts suppliers all across ontario, i used to work for the bumper manufacturer for the Oakville Ford Assembly

Unfortunately, the big 3 are closing plants left and right, blaming consumers that thousands of workers are losing their jobs because we buy foreign...when they were shipping jobs to Mexico 10 years ago. Cant blame them...back in the 90's a guy with a high school diploma could make $70k a year, full benefits doing assembly. Skilled guys like mechanics with enough overtime were clearing $120k (i know one), and they had student programs where if you were in school theyd give you a job with no benefits with hourly wages of $26/hr. my friend still has this job.....hes in school for the 7th year (wonder why) and most of his job consists of relaxing and reading news papers.

The big 3 got rich on the Made In America idea. They built cars to last a certain amount, the japs surpassed them and although american cars in general have great quality standards....their right on par with competition, and have been for the last 10 years.

if anyone wants to add to this, quote me and start a new thread as i dont want to be a hijacker. i mean im already a traitor for driving a jap-crap aint i. yeah....im the one that made you lose your job arent i.........
