Man my car has had a lot of trouble(that's what i get for buying a high miles car)..Now my engine has an oil leak..really bad...somehow so much oil got into the alternator that it shorted out...Also, my radiatory now has a split on the top of it and very slowly anti freeze is boiling itself out. Anyone know anyhting you can use to seal up plastic that will stand up to the heat???? I don't want to have to buy a brand new radiator because of this tiny almost unseen to the human eye crack in the top if i could just seal it up with something like jb weld(i don't think that stuff likes heat)...any suggestions..anyone actually fixed one or should i just dish out and buy a new one?(really don't want to)...Plus I was gonna ask for a transmission rebuild for christmas but now I'm probaly going to be asking for the oil leaks fixed and...a new radiator?..let me know guys..i hate dishing out money!

get someone to weld over the crack. the best way to go imo. just go to a muffler shop and they should charge you too much. anything over $20 is bull****.

One of my idiot, redneck friends had the same problem with the radiator on his Maxima. He used a torch to heat up a butter knife. Then skimmed the knife over the crack in the plastic. It sealed it up very nicely.

I won't speculate on how long it will last... but it did the trick, and it's held for a couple months now.

isn't there an old wives tale that says you can put pepper in your radiator to fix cracks and loles and stuff? If you do that at least your antifreeze and everything that it sprays on will be nice and spicy.

BTW: My car has a very similar crack, I was told by the previous owner to just watch the coolant level and top off the radiator about every month or two.

Ohyea, btw, the coolant system isnt really something to play with if u have any care for your motor....might be a wise time to stop penny pinching and buy a new/used radiotor : )

with all the sR swaps being done, im sure there are plenty of cheap KA rad's floating around, i know i threw mine in the dumpster, lol......otherwise u could have it....

but yea, u can skimp, and try home remedies on stuff, but the coolant system is one of the lifelines of the motor, do it right, or do it twice, ya know?

Well, I wasn't there to see him do it, but I assume it didn't take very long to heat up the blade. I'm also pretty sure that knife doesn't see much use at the dinner table anymore!

I'm just curious why the top of the tank is plastic?
