I have found that if you want something done right, do it yourself......

a month with no oil would destroy the motor, check your oil pan gasket, i've seen a few s13's leak badly from there

^ don't do it. The shop was charging me $1000 once because they insistin dropping the whole suspension to remove the gasket. So what I did: unbolt the oil pan, your gonna have maybe an inch to work with. Worm, squease the gasket in there. It's gonna suck but it's the only way.

Oh and don't forget the black rtv silicone.

Its a pretty easy job man. Just do it yourself and it will cost $60 max.

did you loosen the motor mounts and lift the engine up a little?

OP if your mechanical i suggest putting in a new oil pan seal yourself. but these KA's leak in a lot of other places too like from the Front main seal, oil pressure switch, the external half of the oil pump. and like yours from the pan.

man so it could be leaking from all those places..double screwing me over..but on a sad note..i dont know the first thing about changing gaskets and stuff..still a novice mechanic..ive changed out my struts and hatch, put on headers and intake..and thats about it..

dude, i have a single cam banger, and had the same problem. I know exactly how the noise sounds like and I also got a s***ty oil change at the Oil Stop. ur oil didnt disappear, its because they didnt put enough of it. the bastards only put 2 quarts of oil in and I paid 45 bucks for it cause i was lazy to do it myself. NOW, i do anything and everything on my car myself, F*ck the shops!!!

i drove mine like that for atleast 2 weeks. haha.but the problem now is solved by putting more oil in. haha. dont worry man ur car will keep running. just keep checking that dip stick and make sure u use castrol GTX other wise that dude from the commercial will show up and whip yo a**!!!!

If you have a buddy with a Pulley-puller you could go ahead and do the front cover/front main along with the oil pan. blah....oil until you get the DOHC. Unless you want to rebuild the DOHC before you put it in the car. Maintenance on the SOHC wouldn't be a bad idea then. Options...

I didnt know you had moved on to a crate engine of some sort. I personally went for a used KADE also to replace the tired 300k+ mile motor in my hatch. It only had 74k miles on it and compression checked fine. 150 bucks woohoo right Got home, swapped in, spun bearing on number 4. Only being out 150 bucks for the motor, i just opted to pull it out and rebuild it. Point being, good thing your motors fine lol now you have time to plan things and not rush into a swap
