[font="georgia"]Heres a few pics of my 74 620 project truck I picked up a few months ago. I got a really good deal on it & it has a clean title. I got it from a good friend & he also gave me an extra roof & core support...
when i 1st towed it home...

core off, primered engine bay...
[real=320,256]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/ ... imered.jpg[/real]
new core "bolted" in place & i painted a few parts...
[real=320,256]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/ ... /11706.jpg[/real]
i painted the light buckets too...
[real=320,256]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/ ... 1706-4.jpg[/real]
i lowered it a bit for now, will be air bagged sometime this year...
[real=320,256]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/ ... dfront.jpg[/real]
i "set" my Recaros seats in the cab for now, i have to make brackets to hold them in...
[real=320,256]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/ ... 1706-3.jpg[/real]
So far ive replaced the... fuel pump, starter, points/condensor, cap & spark plugs with no luck in getting it running. As of yesterday I discovered that the timing is off 180 degrees so I have my work cut out for me...:D

[font="georgia"]Heres an update. Ive since my last post got the motor to run but not that well. The stock carb was bad so I bought a used Weber 32/36 & I also will be getting an L 16 intake [no emissions] in a few days. I cleaned & painted the block & all the motor parts & the rest of the engine bay is primered. Im now having issues with the carrier bearing, i found a new replacement but the old one doesnt want to come off. I also modified an old tube grill to fit & picked up some Porsche 914 bucket seats.

[font="georgia"]Why thank you, i wet sanded it with 1000 grit sandpaper then used a polish wheel on my drill & some mothers polish. I apply the polish by hand then buff it off with the drill, I had to buff it about 5 or 6 times to get it to shine up.

[font="georgia"]Yesterday I put the motor back together with the Weber 32/36 I bought & got it to sputter & try to start but not quite. Ill need to tune the carb. & mess with the dist.. to dial it in. All of the parts are painted but I still need to make a block off plate for where the EGR was mounted but thats a project for next week.  This is a small pic, ill have bigger ones next week.

[font="georgia"]Ive made progress from the last post. I swapped in the L 16 intake & exhaust manifolds, installed a new water jacket & lower rad. hose. I also adjusted the elec. choke & cold idle screw now she starts a bit easier but still wont idle that good or at all. I also had to make a bracket for the accel. cable because the L 16 intake doesnt have anywhere to bolt it to. And on my last trip to the yard I found some stuff I needed/wanted...
[flash=320,256]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/ ... ds5206.jpg[/flash]
the bracket...
[flash=320,256]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/ ... /5-104.jpg[/flash]
& the L 16 manifolds, i painted them with heat resistant paint...
[flash=320,256]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/ ... /5-102.jpg[/flash]
I finally found the carrier bearing at Kragen for $70, installed it & raised it up
1 3/4 inches. the truck will eventually be bagged & this will help take stress off the U joints...
[flash=320,256]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v605/ ... /5-103.jpg[/flash]
& the cool thing is I did all this work on 5-10-06...510 day!!!

Well it's been awhile since i posted an update so here goes. Lots to tell, i dropped a brand new L 18 into italong with a new...starter,fuel pump, battery, alternator,ignition switch, fender, bumper, back window, seats, door panels, windshield w/ gasket, chrome valve cover, exhaust, tonno cover, i also smoothed & painted the dash & sanded & painted the frame flat black... & countless hours spent working out all the bugs these old trucks always seem to have.I also scraped & sanded the entire body & shot 3 coats of primer. Heres a few pics of how she looks now. Future plans are to redo the suspension [air bags] & start shaving the body...

I have a set of Firestone 2600's which will work for the rear but for the front Slam bags work better because they dont expand when inflated. The 620's dont have alot of room between the upper & lower arms.

Well i was able to bag the rear last Dec. in my front yard. I placed the bags behind the axle & get about 6 inches of lift. Im running 1/4 lines for now so it raises slow but thats ok. I made all of the bars & parts from scratch using scrap [new] steel...:cool:

Update time. Since my last post ive swapped out the stock dist. [points] for a electronic dist. out of a 76 610 & i used a GM HEI module instead of the stock ignitor box. And i started doing some custom bodywork by frenching in my plate in the gate. Enjoy....

Looks really nice!  I would suggest using multi colored wires for the module.  You've given me some great ideas.  Keep us updated!

Ok not a huge mod but i decided to get rid of the factory gate latches. A bit of welding, body filler, & sanding & theyre gone. It only took about 1 1/2 hours to do...
