my piggy wont start

I was driving my 89 hatch 2 nights ago when it started acting funny on me.The car was running like it was out of gas but i had a full tank.It was bucking in every gear and would not get up past 10 mph.I barely made it home, pulled in my driveway and the car died and would not start back up.So yesterday i went out and bought a new battery. the car started up and ran amazing for about 3 hours, then i went to work at 12. i got out at 6 and my car was doing the same thing again.. when it starts to act up the headlights and my dash lights get dim like there is no power.. I dont know where to start. Someone give me some advice PLEASE.

i forgot to add.. the motor is a ka24e

My guess....the alternator?

But i could be wrong.

to know if its the alternator try to start up the car and unplug the negative and see if the car dies if it does then its your alternator...
