I had to wipe my phone this evening. After the last update I did, it just took a crap and started to crash, freeze, and screw up... A LOT. So, as luck would have it, when I updated all of my contacts through Backup Assistant, there was some kind of error and I lost about 400 numbers. :squint: Those of you who have mine and want me to have yours, please send me a text message with your name in it so I can save it to my list. Thanks.

DO NOT BUY A BLACKBERRY!!! / :tantrum:

I loved my Blackberry, but I still had to do a battery pull on it every couple of days. After getting a nicer phone though, I don't think i'd have anything to do with one again. They're great business phones, but they suck for daily use.

I never cared for a blackberry. I think the worst part is losing all those numbers. I always hated that when I lost or broke my phone.

Lots of numbers from people back in TN. Many of them aren't online either. Sucks. I can get a lot of those from my daughter but not all of them.

How did an error happen, there has to be another way.

I always tell myself that I will write down all the numbers in my phone just in case, but I never do it.

My droid x is a trooper, it took a spill off the roof of a car going about 40 and survived. It did the typical motorola pop out the battery defense and the screen is shattered but it still works just fine.

Sorry to hear you lost all your contacts. That is really a pain. It happened to me a few times so I ended up making a spreadsheet with all my contacts. I update it any time I get a new one.

I've haven't really had a whole lot of luck so far with smartphones though. I had a blackberry, it was awful...I will never have another. I have the droid x right now, but I went mountain biking and ended up getting caught in a rain storm (the forecast showed no rain, but this is the south :frown: ) and my back pack leaked water all over my phone. Impressively enough it's still kicking with the occasional crash and crappy sound.

My brother has the iphone 4 and I have to say I really like it. My next phone will probably be one of those. The interface is nice and I already use a Mac so it just kinda makes sense.

Bex, since it appears you like a physical keyboard, you should be very happy with the D3. I love my D2, and have heard nothing but glowing reviews about the D3 (in terms of improvements over the 2). In fact, I would likely purchase one but I'm kinda holding out to see what LTE offerings are available in the near future. Great choice, and much better than the BB crap. Also, I switched the girl over from a BB Curve to a Droid 2 (few months back) and it made her wonder why she stuck with the BB so long.

On paper, the Droid 3 is nice. But Motorola's keyboards are horrible, and it lacks an optical trackpad. I wish Motorola would learn how to make a keyboard like HTC or Samsung.

Anandtech claims the D3 keyboard is the closest to perfection they've seen :gotme

In that case, huzzah. It's about time they got it right. I like that they split the number keys off onto their own row, even if it's a half row. That's the thing I hate about my G2: no dedicated number keys.

I've still never used a phone keyboard that beats the G1's. I prefer separate keys over rubber membrane.

Not criticizing your personal preference, just pointing out that others really love the keyboard. I don't have any major issues with the keyboard on the D2, but the D3 does feel a lot better (I've played with my friend's phone).

Too bad about your BB. Kind of strange. :\

Android keeps your contacts saved in your account, not just your phone. So, if you accidentally break your phone or get a new one, when you associate your account with it all the numbers you had in your last Android phone are put in to the new one.

Yay, new phone!!! Yay, Android!!! I've never had a blackberry, and after seeing my cousin and friends use them, I decided I'd never buy one. Hopefully you'll find a way to get all the numbers back.

A lot of people haven't sent me their numbers and that's cool, I can take a hint. ;-) As of right now though, my list is well over 50% NICO. :D

Well, if you put bookface on your phone your contact list will be at least that long. And it automagically pulls the phone numbers from there (if people have them posted).

Awesome choice with the Droid 3. That Omap4 is a beast!

It's too bad that they handcuffed it with 512MB of ram.

I agree with this completely. Why in the hell would they make the keys flat and put no space between them!?

Blackberry is pretty poor these days. I got an Evo last January and love it for the most part. My SMS client can be pretty sluggish sometimes and Sprint service is pretty poor, but the phone itself is great overall. Meanwhile, my gf and her mother have BBs and are plagued with problems and replacements.

I'm currently looking for an Evo Shift to flash over to MetroPCS or Boost.

The entire Evo line has been awesome!

I just got the Evo 3D. Mainly for the ooooh, ahhhhh factor, but also for the dual core processing capability and 4G for when I'm somewhere that's not Lemoore.
