i have a s13 with blacktop sr20det bone stock.

I changed oil couple days ago, i use Mobil 1 full. syn 10w30. after changing the oil, i start the car and white smoke came out. i went to check the oil level, it was way higher then the H mark.....

i turn it off for overnight and check again in the next morning..the oil level went back to normal.

what happened there? i did countless times for oil change but nothing like this happened before!!! what should i check ?? what went wrong??

please help!! thanks

Could the filter be faulty?

White smoke = water, water = head gasget.

Or you could have leaking injectors and that was gas in your oil pan.

Check if your oil has a milky color to it.

i just check the oil, doesn't find any milky color in oil.... the oil level is back to normal (a little bit lower than the "H" mark) when the engine cold down....but when i turn it on....the oil level will be higher than "H"...whcih never happened before......

also how do i check for the head gasket......i took the car out for a test drive...didn't noticed any lack of power.....i screw the head gasket once...so i know the car will feel a lot less power....plus the car does not overheat at all......

please tell me what should i do now, where else should i check.....really want to fix it...otherwise...no car to drive ......

thanks

I would put another filter on------cheap and easySince it only happened after you changed the oil it seems like the most probable cause--go to a different store than you bought the last one form--double check that the filter is the right one.

You know, that may be a case of a leaky injector.

My Z had that problem and it would "gain" oil. I'd say I was driving a gold mine cause I'd have to drain some gas contaminated oil out of it every 1,000 miles or so to keep it below the H mark. lol.

It was pretty funny actually, but I know that's bad for the engine for the oil to get contaminated.

Anyways, check your codes, 240's should have a code for leaking injectors and a different code for each of the injectors I do believe......

Edit, to answer your question look for white smoke at start up. It'll smell sweet. All cars give some light smoke on cool mornings, but it won't smell, that's what gives it away.

thanks a lot rsmithdrift......i'll check for code tonight....but is it ok to drive it around for now?? not far local only for work and school......

if it's the problem for leaky injectors....should i replace all 4 of them or only the leaky one....and.....i think i should do the oil change again right?? please tell me what to do .....thanks....

sorry for the stupid question....but i really want to get it fix...

thanks thanks

I drove my Z around with a leaky injector for over a year. I just made sure to drain some oil out every so often to keep the level right and change it every 3k miles. It'd get kinda thin by the end and smell of gas badly, but I never had any problems out of that motor. Actually I just saw it driving around the other day. Same condition too. haha.

But if you want it fixed, just replace the one that's leaking. Oh, and it may be smart to replace the o-rings on all the injectors if you can get them out w/o damaging them. (not an easy task)

If the computer doesn't tell you exactly wich one it is, just wait a little while and pull your spark plugs, the one that's fouled is the cylinder with the leaking injector.
