I've been on the site a good month or so now and posted a few times here and there but i didn't get to introduce myself or get anyone from here to introduce themselves.

It's been three weeks since i FINALLY bought my first S14 (or S-anything)... Its a 96 white SE auto with 123k miles. I bought it out in Long island for $3200... (i'm in northern NJ)... It runs great and i WILL post pictures by this weekend after i go get my state inspection completed.

My current plans are to do a z32 front brake swap within the next two to three weeks (i'll be ordering the calipers tomorrow from Auto Zone) and then getting them powder coated gold (i hope that color comes out good)... I'll do the back as well but not right away....

Next will be coilovers but not until july/august... (i'm thinking Apex'i n1's) good or bad choice at just under 1k...

Before this car i had two stick shift 97 altimas, and i also currently have a 2007 TSX w/ navi but it's a lease...

my social security number is 987-65-4321...

sorry if i left anything out...

Well guys thanks for reading this. If you have any questions or anything please feel free...

For now i'm keeping it auto... maybe that'll be my third mod after the suspension... or do you guys think it should be second? or first... i definatly want to do the swap.. but i didn't make it a priority only because i drive in traffic a lot... I have the acura until next july so my funds will not allow me to do everything as fast as i want to... i'm paying 420/month for that $hyt...

by the way my name is John...

i would make it my number 1 priority. its fairly easy and can be done cheap if you shop right and do the work yourself

im fairly sure you can find one for under 300 dollars. i got mine for free from a friend .for all my parts it totaled out at around 1500 bucks. but thats with new fidanza flywheel, one piece aluminum driveshat, B@m short throw shifter, and parts to rebuild the transmission .i,ve seen it done for under 500 bucks with everything

Wow you scared me with the 1500 bucks... it's good i kept reading... i'll have to research what clutches are good... say if i wanted to go ka-t... but nothing too street unfriendly... i had an ACT clutch in my altima... wasn't bad..

All i've done so far to the car is clean out the yellow headlights, apply rubbing compound and wax... wirebrush all the rust off the wheels (they almost look like new) and ziptie a turkey to my tow hitch (has nothing to do with hunting season)... oh and some lucas fuel injector cleaner... and cleaned out my throttle body because my gas pedal was getting stuck...

Hey, i'm guessing being that these cars have the same motor as the altima, under the valve cover, the timimg chain has a little plate on top that if we remove it will stop the chain from hitting it and make the motor a little more quiet? true or not so true... or am i confusing you...

you are correct. the 240 ka also has the timing chain guides that need to be removed from under the timing cover.

if you search local forums craigsist and the nico classifieds you can find all the parts you need to do the 5 speed swap.

cool cool so when i get a chance, i'll remove the timing chain guide... also i have 3 dents on one door (none on the rest of the car) which i'll have to take out with dry ice or another method i saw on youtube... I want to get some pics on here for you guys and i'll definatly get them on here by the weekend...

About the manual transmission swap... i'm not ready yet... i'll do the z32 front brake swap first... it will be best for me to do the manual swap before the end of the summer being that i'll be doing it myself...

Post up some pics s0nnnnn!

I'd say do the 5spd right after coils. It won't be too bad of a job. Wiring is minimal. AKA park neutral and reverse wiring unless you want gear sensors done.

Glad to see someone doing up their car right from the get go .

One more thing, you're not welcome here, SCRAM!

I figured i'll take some quick instead of waiting for the weekend... I did clean my headlights and scrape the crap out of my wheels to make them look that way... and you may notice the 3 dents on the right side door that i have to remove...

welcome

and whats the story behind the turkey? lol

thats the sony that changes colors right? bada55, i had one of those i miss it.

screw the z32 swap, take on the opportunity to do the manual swap first. sounds like there are some members who can hook you up.autozone is always going to have the calipers there......

I'll look into it.. will not say no yet... just have to see how much i'm spending.. plus i will have to find a buddy to help me or my project mechanic...

I really want my stick shift bad... but my brakes are not that great.. my rotors are shot... that's why i want to do this upgrade first instead of just buying new brakes and rotors...

I would do the transmission first BUT around $350 for the brake swap including powdercoating is a lot easier to get than $1000 for the swap done right... I have taken shortcuts before with my altima and the car falls a cut short of being the way i want it. now that i can make decisions based on past experiences, i don't want to do the swap putting in lesser quality stuff...

It might be less than $1k for it.. i don't know since i haven't looked up the pricing on a descent clutch/flywheel. I saw transmission's on ebay for $250 so i guess i can find one local for 200-250... but i would want to rebuild it... so the kit i think is in just under $200 plus like 2-300 for a clutch and flywheel used/resurfaced about $100 (or lightweight for too much...)

Well, i read a thread on here or the other 240sx forum and people hung things on their tow hitch.. so i guess you can say i jumped on the bandwagon... The turkey was the first thing i could find...

But it is turkey hunting season... (or is it over... hmmm..)
