I installed Stillen front and bumper billet grilles on my Ivory White '08 G37 Journey, I think they are sweet. I get a lot of second looks when driving around. Before After

I have been thinking of doing the main grill on my 08 xs. How difficult was it to remove the old and install the new grill. Not sure if the rest of the grills are really an option for me since I have the technology package and I have a feeling that they are not an option due to the cruise control.

The job was surprisingly easy, I'm a do-it-yourselfer but not super handy when it comes to cars. The first install took maybe 45 minutes.

The instructions make it seem harder than it is. The instructions in the box have been photocopied too many times and the illustrations are too dark. If you do want to do it I suggest you get a copy of the instructions via email, in fact I have a copy if you want to look at it I can email it to you. The toughest part was taking the wire harness clips out of the radiator cover in order to get it out of the way. The factory must have a special tool to carry out the procedure as my wrist got sore trying to needle nose the clips free.

After the first install I noticed that you could see the car brackets show through from backside of the front grille. My car is white so it was very noticeable, I removed the grill, masked off and brush painted on a flat black, it looks really good and even though I didn't spray it on you can't tell. It is probably not a concern on a darker cars.

I don't know what stuff is included behind the grille and bumper inserts on a tech package, I didn't opt for it. I did notice that my car has almost more space between the grille and the radiator than in the trunk! But, if there is room and your '08 xs bumper has the long horizontal lower bumper grilles made of plastic with a honeycombed pattern these billet bumper inserts are really easy to install. The instructions tell you to come up from underneath the car, removing the front under cover. I've had to do that to put on my removable license plate and didn't want to do it again. Since I already had the radiator cover removed for the front grille it was easy access to the bumper inserts. They just bolt on through the existing covers; you don't remove them. I suggest having a friend hold on to them in the front while you locate the screws in the back, It makes it lots easier. They do make a bumper insert for the sport edition with the little square openings but don't have any experience there.

The billet grilles are well made and fit nicely on the car.

WHY???

I'd kill for the newer grill style and you ditched it for a "chicano" grill.

You must be young and naive. Billet grilles are not associated with any race, creed, religion, territory or lifestyle, just good looks. If you are interested I'm selling my OEM plastic one.

Not young and naive, more like sophisticated.

Disclaimer: I'm not trying to put you down or argue with you, just express my opinion.

Most of the Infiniti line up consists of sleek, sexy, fast curves. Adding a billet grill IMO only serves to insert discontinuity into a very fluid design (I'm a graphic designer/artist so these things pop for me).

Also, the ubiquitous nature of billet grills seem to detract from the uniqueness initially associated with them.

Paradigms are beautiful, they allow us to twist the world for our own comfort. I bet most civic owners would use that line if they had the culture to know of it.

This is similar to what I have been looking at offered by the local Infiniti dealer. I was asking about how hard it was to take out since the grill can be had easily for under $300 while the one at the dealer runs about $500 installed.
