Well, first phase of an upgrade as I need new pads asap. rotors and SS lines will come in a month or tow. Anyway, I have P.mu B-Force front and Hawk's for the rear.

These should be an easy swap as I don't have to take the calipers off the car.

THANKS TUNERZSTORE! :)

Looks like good stuff, I like the grease that Hawk supplies.

While your in there make sure you clean the dust from the shielding, pins and pistons. I use either an old toothbrush with brake clean or a tooth brush sized wire brush.

What are you planning on using to compress the pistons?
(I'm thinking this is for the coupe)...

In the past I've done it with a big assed flat head screwdriver after popping the top on the reservoir. Otherwise, what do you see as the easiest way?

Yes, for the coupe.

That has the 4 piston front calipers and 2 piston rears. I screwdriver might work but you will have some frustration with the first one. I'd highly recommend testing the rears first that way if you scratch the rotor you will be less likely to do too much to effect the braking efficiency over the long term.

Since you are adding SS lines you may want to crack the bleeders, but either use some 1/4" hose and run it into an empty soda bottle or be quick with some cleaner to protect the finish.

I have no idea what the diy'er uses I scratched a Brembo caliper years back and bought a tool for that. You won't be able to use water pump pliers because of the lack of space a screwdriver might though.

SS lines will come later when I get new rotors. right now I am simply replacing pads. I helped Mike do a Akebono upgrade on his G35 this past weekend so I'm familiar with the brake setup. I was not planning on using the caliper itself as a bracing spot as I don't want to cause an issue. I also don't want to deal with bleeding the brakes, thus the screwdriver bit.

One of my buddies in the past was a Porsche/BMW mechanic and using a screwdriver to force the pads (thus pistons) back was a trick he showed me. Dunno if it will work but it's worth a try.

push pistons in on one side, insert new pad, pull old pad off other side, push pistons in and insert other new pad...

I knew you'd put some thought into it.

Why not wait and put new pads and rotors on together, that way you don't risk embedding the new pads with the crap that is on/in the rotors since you will not be resurfacing them they tend to act a little crappy for some time. (It may start another debate but the friction properties are not the same, and braking quality will be decreased).

When you install the rotors I'd suggest removing the pads and sand them down a little to remove the shiny finish they will develop over time. Sounds like more work but you are as ocd about brakes as I am so I would imagine that you would rather do a little more work since you should not have to be in there for another 40k or so.

Well, I have 47k on these pads and they are starting to squeal. I'm planning on running the dragon in a couple weeks and need to make sure my brakes are good. I don't have time or help on an upcoming weekend before then to replace rotors/ss lines, so, I'm just replacing the pads which I should be able to do in my garage. While I may mention doing the rotors and such "in a few months" it could conceivably be next spring.

I'm interested to hear how the Project mU pads work for you. I have heard good things about them. Where did you buy them?

just put hawk HPS on all four tires, got about 2k miles on the pads and the braking feel is nice...

Best pads I have used are project mu. Did you even have to ask where he bought them....

I still need to call you.

yes, you do need to call me

i shouldn't have had to ask where he bought them, especially when i re-read the thread and saw "THANKS TUNERZSTORE!" lolz

How much do those pads run (2003 G sedan non-brembo) I might buy a set of the 2005-2006 brakes though, so if you could price me both :)
