We all love our pathy's and qx4s. But there's no getting around it; they're not very, well... fast. That's not what they were designed to be though, so no worries. However, comes a time when a man needs a little speed. So here's my dream car; the best value out there in my opinion. The corvette Z06 can outrun ferraris and porsches in both acceleration and top speed... for $100,000 less. A stock z06 will do 195mph. I hope to pick up a used one after working for a few years after college. They're so tweakable, and the market for parts and accessories is so huge, I can't wait to get my hands on one! What do you guys think? Anyone out there have a speed machine as well as a q or pathy?

Here is my experience with performance cars....Always have a backup plan. Im my case, I had a little toyota 2wd pickup for 9 yrs before I got my 04 Pathy, now it serves as my daily/people mover/road trip/snowboard trip truck.

I've got a couple speed machines, one is a 2004 R6 with a 25shot of NOS, the other is a IS300 with a 2JZ-GTE swap, IHI Indy Titanium turbo, Titanium exhaust mani/full exhaust, 6spd Getrag, AEM standalone, etc, etc, etc, total cost of the build up would be in the $50-60K range if I had paid retail, and my, builder is convencing me I still need to spend another 10-20K. That project and some other things in my life have been the main reason I havn't really touched my Pathy yet. I have big plans for it, but I picked up a copy of the newest automobile magazine today, and I saw this....its making me want to hand my pathy down to my younger brother in law?Not to mention my wifes car habits, she's got a CBR600, and a damn STI impreza

I really really really think I like this! As for you. I think if this is what you want, set some goals, and get it. but if your QX4 is paid off by then, keep it, always keep a "beater" around. but you only live once, indulge in the places in your life that are healthy, and damn it, just have fun!!

I have a 06 zo6 and a 04 Pathy. Depending on what your used to driving I suggest taking a driving training program . This car will get you in trouble real fast. I plan on upgrading to a new ZR1 Hopefully by next month.

Also if you like the looks of the Zo6 but ok with 436hp they will be releasing a Grand Sport model for 2010. it will have the z06 body and brakes along with a few other items.

Keep in mind the car is a lot faster without the stupid run flat tires i have seen stock c6s with slicks run 11's

cheaper? dealers are adding 10k to the price. plus mods for the car are MUCHO $$$. That and the fact if you ever take it to the track you void warranty. And the car has had transmission issues that nissan BS and wont fix . I forgot what it's called but it has to do with launching and if you do it to much they void the warranty but whats funny is the car won't do the times nissan posted without it on.. Just look up and see how much the transmission will run ya. My dad almost bought one till he found this out.

furthermore, the GTR is actually more expensive, slower, heavier, less fuel efficient, and very difficult to modify (nissan claims the setup it comes with is better than anything you could or would want to do to it). Anddddd on normal roads and highways its speed is electronically limited to 112 mph . I also think the vette is prettier

I hate to say it, but the GTR is a Fail IMO. I love the idea, but there are so many drawbacks to owning one, I'd rather save 20K and get a legal R34 shell, and just drop in a RB26.

if you really want a performance car, maybe you should look at what my builder is currently building, its called a GTM, its a complete kit that utilizes a LS7, and C5 brakes and suspension. you can build one for under 40K, or nicely equip one for $50K

I keep thinking it looks like a GT40 molested a MC12, I hope my buddies comes out nice. if it does, I might have to build one too, except I think I'd go for a 4-Rotor, as apposed to the V8, sure the V8 is easier/cheaper, but a 4-rotor would basically be a road legal 787B.....now thats a car to youtube!

My parents have had Corvettes in the past and they're fun. They were all pretty much stock aside for a C5 Z06. I/H/E and a 100 shot. That car was FAST! I've been addicted to fast cars since I was little. I've dabbled in the import and domestic world and had both turbo and supercharged vehicles. I sold the "fast" car that I had (2003.5 MazdaSpeed Protege turbo) to put myself through graduate school and that's when I acquired the Pathfinder about 2.5 years ago. Now that I'm finished and graduated and working, I've been looking around for a new toy. I've considered several different options but have narrowed it down to the new Cadillac CTS-V. It has a ZR1 Vette engine, 556HP!!! I've always liked my mother's caddys and with this car I get the luxury and the speeeed!!! Set your mind to it and let that motivate you to get through school! That's what I did!

I know a guy that bought one of the new GTR's and he said there is some kind of performance button and if you use it you void the warranty, even though they built it with that feature. WTF?!?!? Anyways if I had an extra $45K lying around I'd probably pick up a used one of these:

They originally went for around $60K and were being built somewhere in the PNW(I think Seattle) with a honda 4-banger. Now they're building it with a 500hp V8 and it's supposed to go for around $160K. They also added a little more body work, I thnik the front wing is new and a ram air duct for the rear brakes.

Hey guess what, the Atom 3.0 destroys the Bugatti in power to weight ratios, and the Veyron is hideous. If I was to ever get a hypercar it would either be a Koenigsegg CCX and run it on E89 or a Zonda F.

I can't believe I forgot about the Atom!! I'd want it with a supercharged B18B. I think that would be pretty much unstoppable, and most importantly, its within most peoples budgets for a pleasure vehicle...

I'd take the vette over the Bugatti, platinum SLR or whatever that is, and the atom. I could drive it to work, park it on the street, not get 4mpg, still turn heads, outrun most cars on the road, and at the end of the day, work on it myself. I love this car!

The Atom would smoke the Vette in the twisties and get better milage as well. But any crap weather would be the bad part. Other than that that would be my choice. That or a turbo E30.

The GTM is a bad a$$ ride, but I plan on getting a slightly different Factory Five ride in the future. I will eventually build their Type 65 coupe, which is modeled after the Shelby Daytona Coupe. Mine will look like this:

Well you probably won't consider it a 'speed machine' but I also have a Jaguar XJR. It's not Z06 fast, but 0-60 in 5.2 is fast in my book

I guess there really are a ton of options when it comes to a $50K budget for fun. I like the GTM because its just as street able as the Vette, The Atom because, well, its an atom, and the list could go on and on. 50K would buy you a nice Ferrari 456 or 355, Merc 600SL, Porsche 911, NSX, R33 GTR, Supra, M3 or M5, I've even seen some Austin Martins on the net go for that price range, and they were only a couple years old. after a quick search, I found this 2005 AMG SL65.....I think this would do for the $50K range for me.http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...false

Where I live I see amazing cars on a daily basis, unfortunately none of them are mine. I see on average 2 R8's a week and they are just sick. The only thing I would change is the carbon fibre(I think that's what it is) panel behind the windows, just paint it the same color as the car!

I kind of like them... but the carbon is an optional extra- you can choose to have them match the body panels

I didn't know that, I've only seen them with it. Interesting (Montey Burns style).

I don't really want a car because you cant really do anything with em, and if you got the money to buy fancy sports cars then gas mileage isn't a factor in your decision. I would go with a vehicle that you could do practically anything with, such as this... You can run 7 second 8th miles, you can tow other cars, you can go off road with it, you can work with it, and you can black smoke the s***t outa some a** hole tailgateing you. Not to mention a badass diesel setup won't run you into the ground bc the mods are inexpensive.

If we're talking trucks then I'm all about this:

In high school there was this dude in my class and his hot older sister who's grandpa owned a GM/Cadillac/Hummer dealership and both of them drove H1's, in high school! Ever since I laid my eyes on one I knew that was the ultimate truck. Ugly as sin but BADASS.

That is AWESOME!!!

so after talking about this with my wife, I (she) has decided that my IS300 is the last high performance street car I'm going to build. I did how ever convince her that I still will need a race car, so since I have a pathy alread, I have decided to spend 50K on this exact car.....

its located in Germany, but I think I'm headed there when I leave Japan
