The title says it all.

I'm not in the position to get my hood painted now. I was thinking of getting my hood wrapped in the carbon fiber look. Then I thought I know there are waxes specific to black paint that might help enough not to be glaring you in the face.

What do you all think I should do.

P.S. It's down to the metal!

Pissed in Utah

Sorry that this happened to you, I know how I'd feel if I was in your shoes.

Pics? You might want to try to at least put a little paint down in there to keep it from rusting.

Hey, and if you're gonna get it repainted, well this is a perfect opportunity to try some "repair" techniques and see how they look

I think it could look pretty good - need someone to photoshop a mock up.

I reckon a carbon fiber hood looks good on a Mustang or Camaro, but not so much on a car like ours. For me, a hood wrap is for a smaller muscle car, not a full size saloon car. I'd try the products that claim to hide scratches first, then if not satisfied, I would do a paint repair.

Ya I think the same way but under the circumstances I might do it only to protect the good and have it link better. I'm go get estimates for both and see what the real damage is.

Thanks for the replies

Just a heads up if you're buying the wrap; VIVID runs a Black Friday sale 35% off until Monday. Vivid makes good product comparable to 3M. I used both.
Good luck

Looked at this and if you include shipping for a 5 by 6 roll it's around 40 dollars with discount where amazon is 35 for the same size and same vinyl.

I don't know how deep your scratch is, but Chemical Guys Black Light Glaze helped mask some minor scratches on my trunk lid, and made the car overall look much better. It's around $15 a bottle and you can apply by hand or with a buffer, let it set up for about 30 minutes, buff the haze off and follow with some wax.

Touch up paint super light coats to cover the scratch then wet sanding with 2,000 then 3,000 after that buffer and boom. It's gone
