Just got back from a long drive and a lot of grasshoppers (mostly in Kansas!)...

I purchased Shortseason's Q: nice-92-q45-for-sale-t576247.html
then promptly drove her back to TX from Minnesota... Short summary, guides done, injectors, KS and under plenum done 17k ago (which was way back in '03) and yes the dealership replaced with the old style injectors, so I'll be keeping an eye on these and running No ethanol 93 octane through them. These are Mark's pics, I'll post some new ones below. Car came with Mich Pilot Sports on BBS CH 18" wheels in titanium (tires had just 500 miles on them :woot: ) She is a beast no doubt, smooth powerful ride home back to Austin.

The pics don't do her justice, it is even more pristine in person. Interior is nearly flawless, including the seats, everything down to the exterior weatherstripping looks like it did in '92 - car has been garaged it's whole life (has 84k miles, but is nicer than most cars I've seen with half the miles). In my photos, it's currently kicking the '05 FX out of the garage

Not pictured I have a stack of spare parts to store - new radiator, starter, various gaskets, filters, trans cooler (to be installed), 2 rebuilt front Bose, oh and now 4 factory chrome? Pie pans with low mile tires on them.

Window tint was eyed by MN state troopers as too dark, lol. They pulled me over for dark tint, but with it being a recent purchase leaving the state (and me just being yes sir/ no sir) they were happy to let me off with a warning. They measured the front at 25% and the back at 35% - maybe they have that backwards? I noticed one of the troopers was the new guy in training so I played along and let the older trooper train away - I offered to let them search the car even, which they accepted and they were done quick. What was funny is I saw cars drive by us on 35 with darker tint than what is in the Q (You can see all the way thru the Q). FWIW, this tint is legal here in TX, so it is staying!

finally some pics of my own (dirty from the bug blizzard, which is why no pics of the front end!)

Needless to say, very happy here! Time for a breakfast Guiness, lol :toast:

Really nice Q, congrats! :dblthumb:

I would love to get a white or silver 1st gen Q45 one day. I saw this white one locally last week, but it was in such bad condition, I just couldn't do it :frown: The guy wanted $2,100 negotiable, but the engine looked like it was replaced and the sunroof was busted, among other things.

Anyway, glad you found the right Q for you..
now i know the reason you didn't need that cable anymore.. :chuckle:

CONGRATULATIONS! The interior looks so much like mine when I first got it back in 2010. I actually have a set of the off white floor mats that I have only used when showing the Q. I found a trim shop to replace the drivers seat bottom and arm rest. I am thinking about using a chocolate brown color for the armrest to match the console color. I'll be going back to TX to visit in August. I might be in the Austin area also. If you would like to drive my 91 when I'm the Austin area to check out the suspension and Level10 transmission, just let me know.

About the window tint -- when I moved to NJ many years ago, each time a State Trooper spotted my car I would get pulled over. I quickly removed it once I reached my destination. An out of state car in NJ with tinted windows is suspicious no doubt!

Absolutely let me know in August or when it gets closer... I'll even drive a little to meet you - I'm just south of Austin about 15 minutes, but by the toll road that puts me north of Austin too. and if you drink beer, I'll send you back with some homebrew :toast:

I think the radar detector plus tint did me in :chuckle: But they were polite after finding out it was purchased and being driven out of state :wavey:

Brown and tan door panel would look sharp. I have to admit, pics don't do these interiors justice - in person I was blown away, dead sexy interior! and the 94-96 guys won't like this, but I like our seats better, comfier at least. The interior and really cosmetically, nicest car I've ever owned - better than my wife's low mile FX when we bought it and it was immaculate, even smelled new.

what did the Level 10 run you if I may ask?

Congrats!!! (again lol) those wheels are so damn sexy.. i was actually reading his old thread a while back, so when i first saw this thread i was like "wait... isn't this..??" haha. I'm happy to see it "stayed in the family", so to speak. Glad you had a safe trip too. You can throw that radar detector out the window... it's useless with the new cars' radar cruise control, and a guaranteed ticket.

i think the troopers just wanted a closer look at such a damn fine automobile :) but they'll say anything to look professional. I had a Sheriff pull me over with the excuse "just checking things out". My tint is 18%.. he didn't say jack about it. Asked me whose car it was while he was holding my license and registration (in my name). LOL. Brown bears are pretty funny i guess.

Sounds good to me.. We can call it a Texas Q45 club meet. Now need my A/C fixed (new compressor and R134A conversion) before making the trip.

Are you sure those are CH's, look more like RG's or RS-GT's. Very nice anyway you look at it though. Offset is a little too negative for our cars though, but they are the wheels I would upgrade to from my RX's.

Wish cars in the bay area were that nice, all were left with is high mileage junkers.

You may be right... The previous owner bought them and said they were CH's. Either way I love 'em.

There's a '94 in my area just north of Austin that has been garage kept and 150k miles, asking 2700:
