Well, i finally finished the 2 month of weekends long job of building my own custom sub box for my s14. L-shaped and fits on the gas tank, holds 2 10" JL subs. I'm real happy with the improvement in sound over the tiny truck boxes i was using before. Still have to permanantly mount the box to the trunk so it doesnt slide around. One question, how should I wire the speakers? Right now i have them running one speaker per set of wires, with the sub (a sony, i forget the model number) in 2-4 ohm mode. Is there a better way? The amp has two modes, 1-2 ohm and 2-4 ohm, (High voltage and high current, not necessarily in the respective orders) And any suggestions on semi-permanant mounting? i'm thinking L brackets to the floor with wing nuts to remove them if necessary

just mount some L-brackets on the back of the box, so that you have to put your back seats down to unscrew them...

oh and about wiring up your subs... assuming your subs have single 4 ohms coils, just twist the positive leads together and stick them in the far positive terminal (amp should indicate which terminals to use for bridged mode) and take the left over negatives and stick them in the negative terminal... that'll run a 2ohm config, i think... try it out, if the amp blows up, it'll live up to it's name :pface

sorry, i'm assuming the amp is a sony explode... it shouldn't fry unless the coils on the subs are less than 4 ohm, because i don't think that amp is 1ohm stable

It's actually an older sony...I bought it used before i heard how much crap they are...not an xplod though...The subs are 8 ohm...I'll get a picture of the amp's back so you can see it later, i did have the subs bridged earlier, with the amp in 1-2 ohm mode, i didnt really notice a difference in sound..
