Rust around trim has the advantage of being located next to something distracting. So even if my repair is less than perfect, it really won't be that visible since the trim is right there. So I'm not too worried about it, worst case scenario is that I have to weld in a small piece of steel there.

I'm not exactly sure what plans are right now. Well, final plans for the vehicle, at least. All I have planned right now is to get it running decent and fix the rust. As I have said, the main reason I wanted to get it was so that I could preserve it and keep it from rusting away. So there's a decent chance that I will sell it once I've got it fixed up. Any chances of me changing my mind and parting it out were lost once the engine started up.

So I guess that I will just fix it until I'm sure what I want to do to it.

I paid $250 for it. The plan is to fix the rust and make it driveable. No real plans beyond that.

$250 isn't so bad, but ouch, it's going to be a lot of work. I paid $300 for mine. Insurance is cheap at least (check into antique car insurance if you haven't already) I hope you'll keep some pictures posted on your progress.

It's sitting around, I haven't insured it. I'm taking my good sweet time getting around to it though. Unlike my other cars, it can sit around without costing me anything. So I want to get everything I want done for the next year or so done on them before I devote my attention to the S30. I can fix it, but it will take a lot of time and work. I don't want to have to stop in the middle of repairing the rust, that's what the PO did and it's why I'm here 20 years later redoing all the stuff.

On another note, it will make one awesomesauce lawn ornament.

The radiator developed a... slight... leak. Put in coolant, turn on engine, wonder why it is raining kind of slight leak. So the car has a new radiator. Huzzah.

Oh, and for ****s and giggles, here's the S30's CarDomain page.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3132631

Yea, I have a pretty good track record for finishing projects. Well, automotive projects. Not home improvement or any other type of projects though...

I started refinishing the steering wheel. Got all of the old paint off, going to sand it down pretty good today. Once that's done, paint the spokes and restain the rim... whenever.

I should be getting new carpet for my Z31 mid Dec. So when that comes in there probably won't be any work done on the S30 while I switch the carpet and redo all the audio and interior lighting wires.

Been a while since an update. This is because... well... there hasn't been much to update on. However, over the weekend I did move it into my garage. It's a big step up from the barn it spent the last 22 years in. I washed it with Purple Power (really) and it cleaned up halfway decent. The hatch louvers are off, and I gues I'm going to sell them. I've started pulling it apart in preparation to do bodywork and fix rust. I pulled the side molding, and quite a few parts from the front.

I met a local guy who has like 9 Zs who will be able to provide me with a fender and hatch. He has a red and a gold AE by the way, freaking awesome collection; one of his cars had an interior fire shortly after restoration though. And that's where I will try to salvage the hatch and fender from, along with badging, engine stuff, whatever I need and he will sell pretty much.

Anyway, enough of my rant, onto the pics!
