I finaly found another Q that was in my budget and in respectable condetion. Hell, its almost in perfect condetion!. I will post pix when i can but heres the info; - 93 Q45 Basic - 122,220 Miles - Red tan/tan - 1 year old leather - New Tires, brakes, air filter, fluids, wipers - 9 Door dings and scratches in the whole thing - driver sun visor wire broke and sun roof pop-up switch broke - CLEAN!!!This car is amazing!! I have never really drive a Quiet Q before, my other one had flowmasters. I love this car. I is sooooo nice to drive a car that people respect. My other was a P.O.S. Not to mention that the dealership i got it from accualy gave me a warrenty! 2 year/ 24k mile warenty. Who would have thought they would warrenty a 14 year old car? I'm not complaining!!

3550$ Plus Tax's and fee's and warenty. What do you think? Did i get a good deal? Like i said, PIX soon.

Will the warranty pay for the visor and sunroof switch? How about the timing chain guides?

Good luck. No more Flowmasters?

See if they cover the chain guides... Do you have a link at what they cover so I can see?

I bet that timing chain, tensioners and guides are covered even under a basic powertrain warranty..

Sounds like you have a good base to drop the necessary 5k to make a Q perfect.

Why would an extended warranty pay for preventative maintenance{replace chain guides}? Warranty only pays for parts failure{if you are lucky},and most of these old car warranties are effectivly useless,as the come with high deductables, and only pay out maximum up to blue book value of vehicle...which is almost nothing......

Its worth a try. Worst case he pays for it (because they ARE going to be changed)... Ive heard that sometimes warranty companies will replace parts that may fail and cause more monetary damage...

If he gets in there and the guides are toast maybe the warranty will cover them. I agree though, those things are a joke.

Usually dealers go through outside providers for those short-term warranties, and depending on the company providing the policy, they can be very very good.

My truck came with a brief dealer warranty; got a new differential because it was noisy. Friction modifier may have taken care of it, but I got a new diff instead. Wooo!

I still have my extended on my Q through January. Timing chains are only covered if they break. That's not likely to happen though right? So I'm coming out of pocket for the guides?

I'm making an appointment with Keith for Wednesday. Hopefully he can fit me in and give my car the once over and give me the skinny.

OK. I'm Back! Sorry about that. My computer took a dump on me. The only reason they gave me the warenty is because of the chain guides. And yes, it will only cover the guides if they go out, or if they teer into they motor for some other reson, see they need to b done, then they can be done (Deductable only 100). Do the guides give any kind of warning? Any signs to look for? The motor has developed a ticking up front left, noticed it in the drive thru of taco bell, whe i got to work i poped the hood and it comming from front driverside. Could be...

?Nope. I tried but they were not happy with me by the time we got to the financial bs. I talked them down by about half. So they wouldnt fix anything alse on the car, they wanted it gone!! And as for the flowmasters, they made that car sound sooooooo bad @$$. But that told all of those little fart-can ricers thath i had power. Not *** many people had the gut to run. Right now im in the proces of fabbing up a set ot slim cutouts. So i can flick a switch and go from all axhaust to no exhaust. I'm going to have a switch pannel in the glove box with my exhaust, my Nico-ECU Switcher, Line Lock, and what ever other trick stuff i want. But that is all in the future.

Oooh. Nice. I think I'll give my company a call and see if they want to cover my chain guides. Or at least rent me a car for the week that I'll be without a vehicle.

That's about what I paid for my '92 back in January. 83k.

99% of aftermarket warranty are useless profit makers for used car lots-if you read the fine print, there is always multiple escape clauses to prevent any payout....big one being max amount covered must be less than blue book trade value of car...which is almost nothing on a 90-93Q.Also nothing covered until it totally fails, which insures the resulting repair costs will exceed book value of car, therefor no payout....think transmission, chain guides,

Not calling you a liar, just saying that that is a very different number from what I saw last week. I wouldn't pull $4700 out of my bum. <---- That was the price for EXCELLENT. And when I had 89,600k on it.

Mine is in GOOD condition, and I'm pretty sure it's above $2090.

Of course it's trade-in value. Those prices blow. I was going by Used Car Value

http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCar...=1992

That's the one based on 90,024k.

Old used car warranty provider is going to use trade in value to determine when to cut you off as far as paying for any claims during it`s coverage, and they will try to use "fair" condition, not good or excellent.....2090.00 if you are lucky as far as they are concerned

I go through a warranty company highly recommended by Land Rover owners, people who KNOW what its like to file a warranty claim! (LOL) They don't go by trade-in value, but some warranty providers do.

That's organized crime! How can they do this legally? I'll try to give it a shot, hopefully I get lucky. I'm sure that Keith will give me a good deal on the chain guide job and my driveshaft vibrations.

I'd go kick the jerk that sold me the warranty in the vagina, but I hear that the lot is empty and the building boarded up.

That's full retail. Dealers don't even sell for full retail...

A shame.

Oh well. When someone asks, I give them what the car is worth. Not what a dealer says.

I never want to sell my Q anyway. Especially not the way it's running now. They'd have to pry my cold dead hands off the steering wheel.

Whatever "CONDETION" is, it sounds serious. I would bet it's not covered under any warranty.

Warranties always have so many "cond{I}tions" ya know?

Sorry, just couldn't help myself!

But now i have bigger problems. my powersteering pump is going out, it is making a lot of whining and at idle is gone. that is under warenty. also, i have a small gas leek somewhere. every once and a while i get a hint of gas smell, plus my milage is around 13. what is the most common gas leaking spots?

13MPG isnt anything to worry about in city driving. Common to see that.

What I woudl do for the guides is pay your mechanic to take the front cover, say the guides are busted, and hope the warranty covers it. If it doesnt, you're in there already and they HAVE to get done.
