I just recently purchased another 1990 SOHC engine for my '90 240. I got the engine and transmission for $200 and it has 168K miles on it. Yeah I know it's 'high mileage'

I am just wanting to know your thoughts on the future plans of this engine.

Currently I am planning on rebuilding it for turbo purposes. I am also planning to spend my time doing it as I am now in college and won't have a lot of time or money...

I just need your suggestions and ideas for cheap (but good quality) parts for the rebuild and any ideas on the turbo.

Thanks A Lot Guys!

metal head gasket with arp studs, new gasket kit, just the basics to freshen up the motor since you can always slap the turbo on it later. might wanna get some new connecting rods though, I see alot of them break on the sohc motors when pushed hard and it might be too expensive to replace the pistons and the connecting rods at the same time. But you might want to ask around which part is more readily broken and get replacements for those instead of everything like some may suggest especially if you're on a budget.

Thanks 180fan! I will look into that. Do you know of any issues with storing an engine for an extended period of time (like say over 2 years) as I rebuild it. Should I just take it all apart and keep the parts clean or only take it apart as I go and have the new gaskets and other parts to get it back together shortly after I take it apart?

Thanks again
