Haven't been on here for a while. Bov and catch can look nice :yesnod, You're making me think I might have to go half an inch lower  I love my wheel clearance and suspension geometry, but I am a bit on the high side. :frown:

So i wanted to get a few things done over this winter

Since my chasis has over 220,XXX miles on it, i know my bushings have to be completely shot

So i picked up the ES Master Bushing Kit
Image

I also bought some ES Poly Subframe Bushings as well

also some little things i want, like Circuit Sports exhaust hangers and little things to stiffen everything up a bit :)

I might pick up a few more little things, then a few exterior pieces ive been wanting

I find it hilarious that we got the same kit at roughly the same time. When will you be installing them?

i will probably get the tires mounted early next week, and then i will install the tein tie rods and get an allignment all within the following day or so..
Is your car sitting at factory height? And how far do you like you could drop it before you would have to start rolling/pulling fenders?? I am a huge fan of the wheels!

No its not at factory ride height, and i would not recomend mounting these wheels without coils and camber adjustment at minimum. You will have to roll all and maybe slightly pull the fronts.

and thanks :)

I have Nismo shocks and springs on my car, so its only an inch down in the front and .6 in the rear (I was going for ride comfort lol)..Think I'll be ok for clearance? I know tires vary in size depending on brand. Who did u go with?

Im sure the wheels will mount up, but im not sure if you will be happy with the fitment (you will probably have a decent amount of wheel gap at that height).

I have the Federal ss595's (225/45)

but you could aways go with a different tire size as well to help with fitment

functionality > flush

yea im going to need as much meat as possible to try and keep traction, so i definitely agree with the functionality over fashion. At my height, would you still recommend a rolling and camber adjustment? Sorry to interrogate you, wheel fitment is definitely my weak suit lol.

No bid deal, I'm bored at work anyway...lol

But my outlook on rolling would be do it once and never worry about it again. simple as that

With these wheels you are going to need to run around -2deg camber all around with a stock body s13, so yes being adjustable is necessary.

Well im glad i can keep you entertained haha... Here's one more for you, what would you think would be the biggest tire size I could get under the car (yes stock body) without going to a staggered?

^ Thats tough to say, but ive seen plenty of stock bodied s13's with 285/265 rears on 9" wheels, but the front is whats going to be tough fitting

So my Subframe Bushings came in
Image

I also finally got the front Tein Pillowball Upper Mounts

And all these as well..

Im confused about what your asking. Yes, my fronts are rolled, but how do i feel about it? I feel that if you use an actual roller (not a baseball bat) and take your time you shouldnt have any problems.... :gotme

Well i actually got some work done this weekend. Everything went really well, i also picked up a set of new Moog rear sway bar end links.

After removing everything necessary to drop the subframe, i was planning on calling a few buddies over to help me drop it, but i slowly started loosening everything, and ended up just dropping it by myself. It was easier than i expected actually. :)

This is how i left it tonight

Now the buring and disassembly begins.

Well i was able to find the time last night to burn out the subframe bushings. Pretty easy and straight forward, i took my drill and drilled holes in the bushings before torched them. It takes a minute to get the metal pieces out, but after that they pretty much burn out on their own...

It was dark so i didnt even bother bringing my camera, so i snapped a quick cell phone picture

Nice, I cut a couple corners and just installed collars :-( let me ask you, to install those ES bushings you DON'T need to remove the metal sleeves?

Well, i have been finally making some progress over the past weeks. The weather has really sucked recently, and most of the subframe work needs to be done outside, so progress has been slightly delayed due to the weather... but its getting there

I also want to express how i have hated this entire bushing install. Its sucks.... simple as that. Its actually a pretty easy job mechanically, but it is just time consuming. One bushing might take 10min, the next 2 hours :tisk:

But all i have left is the RLCA bushings, clean/paint and then she is ready to be bolted back up. (Then comes the front end)

I also am picking up some rear traction/toe arms. Kinda an impulse buy...lol

Some recent progress pics

Some new bushings in
Image

and the damn sleeves that drive me absolutely insane...

I also made a sweet purchase for a new front brake set up... To hell with Z Brakes ;)

Sorry i missed this comment..

The ES subframe bushings are made for the S14, but can be used on the s13's, but you must retain the metal sleeves that you typically cut out.

All of the other bushings, you must cut out the sleeves (shown in post above). I think this answers what your asking..

Did you cut the top of your bushings before putting them in? The added inch of ground clearance for the exhaust and what not is nice, and the roll center correction (and other suspension geometry) is priceless. See my thread if you need explanation. Those brakes must have been expensive as hell. Nice setup.

I still haven't even pressed the bushing in yet. I saw that in your thread and I'm interested. I'm gonna read up on it a little bit and see what i can find. Post more pictures in your build already...lol

I just did, the only concern there is for cutting the bushings is that if you take off too much the bushings lip that separates the subframe mounting points from actually touching your frame rails will be too thin and won't isolate the diff noise and vibrations from the cabin. I have a decent amount of clunking now audible due to the bushings, but the handling gains made it well worth it. Also, if you cut more than I did, your e brake cables might get pinched between chassis and subframe. Essentially cut as much as I did (leaving approximately 3mm of that lip) and you will be set. In fact I think the es subframe bushings raise the subframe a little bit without being cut.
