after months of blowing my last motor, i finally got my motor rebuilt with some upgraded internals:

wiseco 9:1 pistons .20 overtoga main and rod bearingsarp head studscometic MLS head gaskets15 480cc injectorsmsd btm (thanks craving4boost )

i couldnt afford to dish out $700 for pauter rods as much as i wanted to... i was planning to push out 14psi-16 psi off the bat (t4/t04e 57 trim). the previous boost creep problem i had with the last motor will be solved by dumping the 38mm tial wastie to the atmosphere completely. i still have to break in my ACT clutch because it still only had 50 miles on it from my previous motor. at this boost level, im still worried about throwing a rod... anyone think its safe?

any feedback would be nice!

I hope youre joking Beemen. Sunny, do you know him?

Back on topic, Sunny I would take the time and save up for the rods. I will always always give this advice from now on, because I have personally seen what happens when you skimp in that area. I wasnt pushing much more than you, and mine was - and I quote - "the worst damage to a 4cyl we have ever seen" by my machine shop.

Honestly I know they are expensive, but just suck it up and get them- even if it takes you a while longer. I think you'll be glad you did.

i dont know this BEEMEN guy... i think he has some beef with me and my friend from another thread but anyways...

I really really wanted forged rods, but the only thing was, the block has already been assembled and is awaiting drop in. its going to cost even more money to disassemble the block again and put in rods. pauter rods would have made my block have a fully built bottom end, but i guess not everyone can always have what they want right?

Beemen, if you have a problem with a member either take it off board, or contact myself or any of the other moderators to deal with it.

I don't see how the stock rods won't hold what you are pushing. With proper assembly, they should hold what you want to push easily. Noting that I don't see ARP rod bolts and assuming you are using stock rod bolts, USE ANGULAR TIGHTENING METHOD! Stock rod bolts are not designed to be tightened using any other method of torquing. Download or buy a FSM to see more about this.

i would keep it under 330whp setup after what happen to fiz with stock rods and if i had pistons and other good stuff in there probly under 300whp just to be safe. Sorry after seeing fiz's motor go up i dont trust the stockers past the 300 mark even tho thay have gone closer to 500whp mark to me it would be worth saving up and fully buliding the bottem end

Yep, imma have to agree...I'm in kinda kinda the same boat, my motor is already assembled with supertech 8.5, ARP, balanced etc...but i have decided to hold off and save up for some crowers even though it will mean disassembly and further delays. To me it's worth it just for the peace of mind. Otherwise, sounds nice..good luck

if everyone is so worried about the stock rods, you could cryo treat them, it makes them 15-25% stronger, thats a bit more peace of mind, and quite inexpensive
