OK - can't help myself. Attempting to show off pictures of my new black on black M45x - as though it were a newborn. (Hope they come out - my first time). Traded in a '01 400hp black Jag XJR which I loved - but have found a new love! Fast, nimble, smooth, quiet, very cool/unique looking. What I don't get is all of the nitpicking here. Yeah, so maybe the it needs a 6th gear. And guzzles gas. But this thing is a marvel of automotive engineering. Can't get enuff of this car. How many times a day can a guy find excuses to go out for a little drive? I'll let you know....

Nice pictures. I like the subtle differences on the 2008. Gotta be awesome to have the V8 and AWD. I almost purchased an XJR instead of my M. It was between the two. Cheers,M.L

For what its worth, sliver was my close second choice. Not a big sliver fan usually, but the M look fabulous in sliver, expecially with the 19" gunmetal wheels) - plus MUCH easier to keep looking nice. But I saw a parked black one day before I went into buy and blew me away - and I just couldnt say no. (Kinda like going for the flashy hot evil chick instead of the pretty, nicer one - maybe not smart, but ooohhhhh...)

Either way, cant to wrong.

Hey, beautiful car....I too am a new black 2008 M owner. I have owned mine now for 7 days and I have 1000 miles on it. I would post pictures, but with the exception of the M45X you have on your trunk, yours is identical to my M35X.

I blame/thank Consumer Reports for me getting this car. With the gas prices the way they were I was looking at replacing my 2001 Acura MDX with something much more economical, so I was looking at Mini Coopers. The Consumer Reports really likes Mini's and they rated very well. But, I noticed that the Infiniti M was rated at the top of every category and coincidentally the Infiniti dealership is across the street from the Mini dealership here in Salt Lake City. Because of the CR rating on the M I walked across the street from Mini to look at the M...just out of curiousity...and ended up driving a big black one home. I really don't regret it even though the gas mileage won't begin to approximate the Mini. I hated giving up the AWD of my Acura, and to be honest, I am an old fart that comfort means a lot to. Gas mileage be damned, I love this new M.

It has toys galore, and some are downright silly, but they make me smile. Like the little tune it plays every time I go 'Home'.

Another big selling point to me was the ventilated seats. But, I am not finding they are particularly effective...although it is the wrong time of year to judge. The Acura would fry my butt...I don't notice the M has that capability, and the cooling seems to be non-existant to me so far. Are you all happy with yours?

Other forums usually have a place for problems/complaints. I am not finding an area in this forum for that...does that mean these things are completely problem free? I hope?

Large smile on my face as I read your post - for couple of reasons. Like you, I did not set out to buy an M - but got interested when doing research - specifically when it beat out BMW twice. Test drive blew me away - nimble, fast, comfy. To me, perfect balance. I think Infiniti marketing's focus on "design" does it a disservice. The looks you can see - and like or not. But you have to do research to discover that it's arguably the best driving car in class. Why does Infinit barely mention that???

Other reason for smile - your flirtation with Mini. That was my first car back in 1967 - a beaten up, clutch-slipping, rusted, worn out (original of course) Austin Mini 850 - slow as a snail but the most fun car EVER. From that to Fiat to Chevy van (!) Saab (which blew a head gasket in '74 in your city, by the way) to Golf to Civic to Taurus (!!) to 2 Mercedes to Jag (2nd funnest car) to absolutely finest car owned - the glorious M! Happy driving! (Enjoyed your gallery, BTW).
