Well, after much waiting and frustration, I finally got my G37s. The car was ordered in June, with an estimated delivery date of August 21st. Platinum Graphite with Stone leather and every available option. Around the middle of August, I got a call from the dealer telling me that the car was delayed by about a month until Sept 21st. Something about an earthquake in Japan that had set back the production of 4WAS. Naturally I was disappointed, but there was nothing to do but wait.
On September 12, I got a call from my dealer to tell me that my fully loaded Obsidian G37s had arrived. I was like "what?" So the salesman asks me if I hadn't called in last minute to change the color or something. I told him he got the wrong guy. I wanted my Platinum Graphite, damnit! Later when i got my car, the sales guy told me he had that black G37 sold the same day I refused it. Talk about demand.
After much apologizing, he begged me to come into the dealership promising that by the time I came (that Sat, the 15th), he'd have the exact car I wanted. By then i had done lots of reading on this forum and decided I wanted to skip on the 4WAS after all. None of the big name reviewers were saying anything good about it. I figured I could save myself some cash as well.
I didn't actually make it to the dealership until that Sunday the 16th. Sure enough, he had a sweet Platinum Graphite 6MT sitting there with my name on it. It was fully loaded minus 4WAS and with Graphite interior. After giving it a thorough look-over and hearing from a friend who had a Stone interior G35, I decided to take it. I heard the grey leather gets dirty much quicker, especially if the car is driven with the windows/sunroof open. Not to mention the light stitching looks much nicer against the dark leather vs. the stone, where it gets lost.
Coming from a 98 Plymouth Neon, I don't have much basis for comparison here. After a week of driving, all I can say is that the car is amazing! Practically drives itself, super comfortable, very civilized yet eager to go if you push it. I've yet to take it above 5K RPMs and I've already hit 105 MPH in 6th gear - it rides like a dream.
See pics below - apologies for the quality - they were taken in a hurry with a borrowed camera during lunch at work.
All that's left is for me to take it back to the dealer tomorrow to get the ugly black pinstripe removed from the side and the black logo sticker off the back. I totally love this car and I have yet to see another one being driven in Miami. Nobody else i know has seen one out there either, so you can imagine the amount of looks it gets me. I've already had a G35 sedan, a brand new Audi TT 3.2 and various other punks pull up next to me wanting to race. They see the temp dealer tag and can't fit the concept of a break-in period through their thick heads...
