I went by the local shop that installed my engine, and started it up for the first time. The engine ticked loud. It was on my mind, so I called up TopHat. For some reason there phone doesn't work. I called up AMS since thats were I got alot of parts from. Those guys are great. I got off work and drove the car home 7 miles, and poped the hood. damn that ticking bothers me. Now that im home I can ask you guys will it go away?

Spoke to the guy @ HRT he said get the valve lash check. Its real easy for a valve to become loose after everything gets put together. Thats why you should check clearences twice.

Wow, your breath smells like the only 4 letter work you used. Did you gargle and spit?

Sorry guys I don't know how to posts picks or vids maybe my girl can show me. But as far as the tick I know the difference between tick and rod Knock. Ive been through 2 $500 dollor junkyard motors. They start to Knock then when you push hard it's spits a rod out the side and your oil pan. I did manage to get 12 months out of the last one after it started knocking. But yea i'll try to posts picks. when I got this engine It was so clean you could eat off of it. I mean bling bling. top hat gets an A for that. And so far no problems with the cometic gasket (KNOCK ON WOOD) I don't know if it's me? but the car pulls alot harder and know where near sluggish. Since two oil changes the ticking is quieter.

Just spoke to mike @ TOP HAT. The engine was built this past december. It just got installed, so all the oil in the lifters may have leaked out. They may pump back up. If thet don't I'll have to get the head pulled and take the lifters out and pump them up. Thats what i was told. He said there hydraulic. When I talk to HRT they said they where solid and the valves may need to be shimed I'm lost. Can some one help me find my way?

weel that makes sence. glad to hear it's only a tic. The valvetrain on the DE is quite simple. You have a "bucket" with a shim on top that's measured to get the correct valve lash. The lifter just dampens the force of the cam lobe hitting the shim to depress the valve. So, with a colapst lifter, the dampen you would normally get is not there.

Luckily, you don't have to pull the head to remove the valvetrain. There's a tool to pressurize the cylinder so you can remove all but the valve.

well another one bites the dust. my wife and son wanted to cruise and help on the break in. We ride up town to the gas station no speeding. I needed to put air in my tires since it sat for so long. So on our way home i'm doing 35-40mph everythings fine. thats when I slow down to stop @ a light I don't here a tick. I here a pinging.I said damn. what the hell? So I pull off only 5mi from home i'll run 30mp the pinging went away. I was 3mi from home when my speed droped lower and lower then the car shut down. the hole time i'm wacthing my dash to see if any lights come on but nothing.I coast over onto the shoulder and smoke poors out the hood. the side of the exhuast is soaked.when I turned the key and the temp went 2 hot. damn ill call TOPHAT this mourning.
