I had gotten tired of driving my auto-x car around every day with all its rattles, stiff springs, exhaust leak, rust, no A/C, and miscellaneous other issues that it has. I wanted to get something newer like a WRX, but with my current job situation I can't afford to take out a loan. I watched craigslist for a couple weeks for something in nice shape for $2k or less. My criteria were: A/C, radio, and 25+ mpg. I wasn't even looking to pick up another S13, but I stumbled upon this about 2 hours away:

It's a 1990 with only 90,000 miles, no rust (not even on around the spoiler mounting holes!), original unfaded paint, super clean interior, power windows/locks, no sunroof, bone stock. The only issues are that it is an automatic (I can fix that ) and it has a scuff on the front passenger side bumper/lip from a bad parking job. I got 30mpg on the drive back with the A/C on the whole time...not bad for a 20 year-old SOHC.

It was on the road by Friday, and I cleaned it up a little today with some clay bar and wax. The paint looks kind of faded in the pictures, but it's just my camera. It's still a very bright red.

When (if) I come back to NY at the end of the summer, I want to swap my DOHC and 5-speed transmission into this one, along with most of the suspension parts. I'll probably hold off on swapping the turbo parts over because I really don't want to hack up such a clean chassis for the intercooler piping. I'm even a little hesitant about having to pull the fenders in order to fit my current wheel setup. I'm not used to having nice paint that can get screwed up .
