I just got an 81 280ZX nonturbo. It has an ok body, some scratches on the passengers side door and rear wheel well. It has some running problems (intake gasket is like gone, idles after 3-4 minutes of racing, exhaust leaks, ect.) I've got tons of crap for this car but I don't care it's my Z!!

I got it form this kid that thought it wouldn't start and thought it was done. So i do the checkups and find that the battery is dead. So i get a new one. Ok still won't start. So I check the starter. All good. Then I find that if you pull the key out about 1 click and turn it. The beast starts up with no problem!

So now I need to get it movin. I want a new motor and transmission cuz the motor right now has 256,000 miles on it. Any motor ideas. I don't have enough for an RB20/25/26 w/e I am kinda on a budget. But give me any ideas. I'll save up for the best motor. Oh btw I got the beast for $500

I know there are 4 at a junkyard just outside of Louisville but that yard is pretty stingy and will want about $500 for one...

I'd pay 500 but that's really far away. I'm in Cali.

they came in 81-83 280ZX Trubo's, direct bolt in, just swap harness ecu and all, I've bought 3 complete donor cars, ( some running when hit some no longer running) for about $350 each, just a matter of keeping an eye out, if you knew what you were doing you could simply swa[ the needed turbo parts onto your stock motor as it's still reletively low compressiona dn at low boost would be fine especially if you added an intercooler
