Hey guys im new to the forum and im pretty newb at cars as well although my dad does know alot about cars in general there is only so much he can help me with on a car he has never worked on before, so im gonna need some help on this one.

so i bought a 93' 240sx for 500 dollars (which is a steal) but of course there is a catch, it needs the clutch replaced as well as some other things to fix up. The whole clutch set came with the car and im going to use the Chilton's book as well as the guide on the site to walk me through that one so i think im set, but i have a few other problems.

First:the driver side door on the top hinge it seems as if it were loose, im able to move the whole door up and down a few inches and i can't seem to find out whats different between that and the other door (which is fine) it might be just a missing washer or something really simple. but regardless i want to get it taken car of because its scraping the part it locks onto and i know it will just get worse

second: the muffler is no longer being held onto the body of the car, it rusted off >_> so i was thinking since there really doesn't seem like theres a way to salvage the orignal part that was holding it up, what if i go out and buy some sort of "U" shaped bar and drill some new holes into the bottom of my trunk and have it held up that way. I don't want to replace the whole thing for the time being because im on a really strict budget and i need this car to be up and running pretty soon.

third: the car came with an alarm system and the battery did die from when it was last turned over to when i got it over to my house. so i went to my local advanced auto and got it charged but when i put it back in the alarm had reset. I have no remote to turn it off , and i know there is a manual alarm turn off for it but im pretty sure that my car is still locked from starting due to the alarm system going off. *Or* what it could really be is that the clutch isn't engaging at all making it so the car can't actually start because its acting as if im just not pushing the clutch in (light dim and etc.)

fourth:thankfully both headlamps are working but there is one minor problem on the driver side one. both motors are working but the one on the driver's side actually rusting off from its other hinge (i don't know what to call it) but it wasn't like a bolt or anything it looks like it was just a small nut that was welded into it so i can't just go out and but a new bolt for it... any recomendations to do with that?

fifth:the driver side door isn't lockable (its not power locks) im assuming that i will need to rip the door open to fix this, but i also haven't looked for any guides on this so yea im a bit stumped.

sixth:the boot on the right shock is pretty much obliterated is this something to worry about? i assume so because you don't want gunk getting into the shock right?

seventh:the people i bought it from said that they disconnected the fuel hose from the engine and that they could turn it over but the hose would shot gas onto the engine, anyways i looked at it and there doesn't seem to be anything disconnected from the fuel filter to the fuel injectors. I might just be looking in the wrong place but its a small cylinder on the passenger side of the engine and all the pipes/tubing are connected from under the car to the filter to the injectors

i hope to get it up and running by the end of the weekend if at all possible and i have access to pretty much all the tools im sure i will need. Im free both days so i will have plenty of work time on it, which i plan to spend 100% of on the car. ill check this post tomorrow see if there is any helpful insight.
