Just got it yesterday.
Versa S hatch with power plus pkg, VCD pkg and 4sp auto.
$14264 out the door.
Was bought and will be driven in Minnesota.
Our 2002 Buick Century is getting long of tooth but runs fine at 168000 miles. It started after sitting all night at 42 degrees (Fahrenheit) below zero this winter. So last month thought we would keep the Buick as a second car and get a new one also.
We set aside $20000 for the new car and had no preconceptions about what we wanted other than, perhaps, a hatchback and at least decent mileage.
We looked or at least considered just about every compact and subcompact under 20k. The clear winner, if price was no object was the Kia Forte 5 door hatchback. Refined, very well equipped as a base model with a highway rating of 36 miles per gallon.
We also looked long and hard at the Honda Fit. Good gas mileage and great dependability ratings. Problem was it's harsh ride and noise - remember we are a retired couple driving a Buick Century and before that a Park Avenue. Also simply didn't like the interior style. Perhaps it's just fine for a twenty year old but just too busy looking looking and cluttered for our tastes.
Anyway the Forte would have cost about $18200 out the door and the Fit close to that. A difference of almost $4000 more than the Versa.
The Versa seems to give us all we really need in a car - reasonably quite, good ride, decent mileage, well equipped at a good price.
Sooner or later you just have to decide when enough is enough and the Versa was enough.
Thanks to all the posters on this forum it helped a lot in making our decision.
