Greetings

Very new to this forum, though I am very excited I found it. I was hoping to get a few suggestions as to how to approach tuning this vehicle from the ground up. I have an appointment next week to limo tint the windows, though here in California, it is illegal to tint the front windows, so just the back windshield and the two small ones in the rear.

Another purchase in the next few weeks will be wheels and tires. I really am a fan of RAYS and Enkei as well as Michellin and Bridgestone. Any suggestions in this department would go a long way. I'm looking to put 18 in. wheels and racing ready tires.

HID lights are a must also, please direct me in the proper direction as to brand and model. I'm going for a brightish blue color.

Anyways, here are a few pic of my new car in all its stock glory!

Thank you for any help!

Racing ready tires? lol

There are a few different brands. I would suggest http://www.1010tires.com and http://www.tirerack.com to help you decide on brand and price and such.

For the HIDs I wouldn't suggest anything higher than 8000K. I run 6000K, pure white, 8000K will get you a bluish color but it depends on what you like. As for brand, check out eBay. I know of a few members having issues with the Auto On lights feature with HIDs and having both of them or one of them not fire up. The cheap 80 dollar kit I got on eBay works perfect.

I'm running Toyo Proxes 4s. They're a decent tire for the price and haven't let me down. In a 255/35/19 size they are reinforced with steel belts to protect them a bit more.

If you're going to get rims I would suggest the Eibach ProKit to lower your car. You will have HUGE wheel gap and it'll look really weird. Or if you have the cash talk to Mehdi about the BC Coilovers (i think that is the name of them).

Welcome! :D

Or me :D, I have the BC racing coilovers. I am also running 18x8.5 +35 on 225/45 tires.

Rays/Volks/Works/Gram Lights are pretty much the same so any wheels you like from them will do. For tires I would go with some BFgoodrich KDW or Falkens 452.

You will want to lower with 18s on because it will make the car look way better and it will handle better.

Thank you fellow Altima owners for all your input thus far. I understand that this is an expensive hobby though it is very gratifying once you finish your project. I will definitely be taking advantage of group buys though I needed to be pointed to the right forum category.

BTW, will installing the BC coilovers void my factory warranty?

It will not void your warranty. Anything you do to the car will not void it unless they can prove that modification is what cause the problem.

Welcome to the forum.

You are right this is a ver expensive but gratifying hobby. I would recommend lowering the car first. Rims and tires will look especially good after you lower it.

Welcome though.

Thanks SO much for this post, I was about to make a post asking some questions about throwing BC Coil Overs and new big 20in rims / nitto tires....about voiding the warranty... i have a 2.5S as well, along with the 8 yr warranty..so knowing that the coil overs and rim mods wont void it.. totally makes me happy

also puttin new tail lights, HIDS and grill wont screw it up either... GREAT

going for looks not performance :) (hence 2.5 + florida driving is slow)

looks like i need to hurry n get home from Iraq so i can get my car in the shop lol.
