Car: 2006 Infiniti G35mt Sedan

Post

Hi all, I am new to this site and to the G35 as well. In fact this is my first car from anybody but GM, Ford and Chrysler. I was driving a 99 Monte Carlo that I bought used in February 03 and I decided it was time to get a new car again. The Monte was my first used car since 1992.

I leased a 2006 G35mt Sedan and I couldn’t be happier. It has nearly as much power as my 2000 Z28 had and seems to handle much better. I had to give up my Z28 when my second child was born for a more sensible family vehicle which is a 2002 Tahoe. Then, in 2003 I purchased the Monte and I wasn’t too thrilled with the ride but the price was right at the time. It was what I call an ‘A-B’ car.

Anyway, I really like the ride of the G35. I test drove the coupe as well and it felt to me that the sedan handled a little better and was just as fast. I got the premium package and the sun roof. The dealer included hand painted pin-stripping, splash guards, locking lugs, door protectors and had the windows tinted for free. Then they took $980 off the invoice. All in all I think I got a good deal.

I have the Bose sound system which sounds great! I have read that others found the sound to be somewhat flat on the highs but I found no such deficiencies in the highs. In fact it sounds very crisp on the highs and the base sounds great. I don’t claim to be an audiophile but I do know good sound when I hear it.

I’ll post pictures soon. I haven’t had a chance to take any just yet. My G35 is black which looks very rich but will be a **** to keep clean. This is my first black car as well so if anybody has any suggestions on how to keep it clean without having to wash it every other day I am all ears. I live in Florida and it's sunny most of the time but we get those afternoon storms.

Welcome to NICO Mark. Make yourself at home.

Congrats on the new car. You made a great choice. The build quality and reliability of Infiniti is a pretty big step up from most of the domestic brands.

Congratulation!

I am not sure why but the G35 attracts a lot of attention. It has one of the most unique look of any car in its class or any class.

Welcome to Nico. Well I owned a black Maxima for years....so you have your work cut out for ya in keeping it clean!

Couple things I learned

1) don't cheap out...buy a good chamois (not those orange or green rough ones) I think it's like a lamb skin.

2) Never use dish detergent

3) Wash your car and dry it in sections. Start with the roof, then do the whole front, then do the back, then do the doors,

4) When drying, never go in circles (it will leave swirls) just dry vertically, almost like your using a squeegee. Stay away from those wash brushes and squeegees. Use a nice soft mitt (like microfibre) to wash

5)And save the windows for last!

Hope that helps!

Enjoy your new fly ride

Awesome! Welcome to NICO, and congrats on the new G purchase!

And black cars suck! Especially when you're lazy like me! My black car always looks like crap because it's always dirty... but when she's clean... watch out!

I liked using Eagle One Nanowax. It's easy to apply and perhaps a bit harder to remove. It's not difficult, but does require the use of many microfiber towels. Unlike most waxes, teh removal does not cause a dusting effect that. It cakes onto the towel which has to be washed in teh laundry to remove. As the wax cakes on the towel becomes less effective. So cahnge towels as many times as you need. How is this easier. Wax dust tends to like to get right back on the paint, which is just disturbing right after you wax it. This is especially true on black cars. Secondly, you cand be sloppy with it in application as it does not stick to rubber and plastic parts (or at the very least, you can't see it afterwards). It is made of a synthetic polymer so it should last a while and provides a deep shine. but as simple as it is to use, waxing often is not too much of a pain if you have the time.

Here's a pic of my black coupe.....that I soldIt had swirl marks down one side that were tough to get off. I tried several products, but zaino swirl remover did the best. ez on ez off with no wax dust what so ever. Also, I only use 100 % cotton towels (USA made) to wash and polish my cars. I miss my black car.
