Has this happened to anyone before where the screen just stays on after you turned off your car? This happened to me several times and the only way I got it to turn off is let the battery drain until its dead. Here's a video of what I'm talking about. Also noticed how when I go to start the car there was like a 5 second delay.

let's try and back track. have you done anything to the system? have you checked all the fuses? when exactly did this first occurred and can you remember what you did to contribute to this anomaly? did you do the nav hack? have you yank the system out and put it back together? I find it hard to see electronics to go bad by themselves. more info will help us help you.

I have done absolutely nothing to the system. All the fuses are good. It first happened a few months back and it was outta no where. The cars screen just wouldn't turn off at all no matter what. No nav hack or anything.

so i'm guessing you're out of warranty period and you don't have the Elite extension. well, my suggestion is as follow: first there's the nite/day button that you can turn the screen on and off. if that works, well great. turn the dam thing off before you turn off the car. if that doesnt work, go scout the internet for a new controller board; the a/c controller and the round dial part from either yunkyard or ebay and swap it in. you can also try to do the diagnostic on board by holding setting and turn the volume knob either direction 40+ clicks. hopefully that will give you some sort of trouble code. if you have cipher cable or know someone has one, try to scan your car for codes. we're basically going in blind here. there isn't any other info except "it happened one day out of thin air"

either way you look at this, it'll be expensive and time consuming. so if you ever end up with a solution other than take it to the dealer, make sure you document it and share it with other M-owners. good luck man

The night/day button won't do anything before my audio still stays on also. I have done the secret diagnostic mode a while back and yeah I had plenty of error codes. I took a picture of it and I should still have it which I did find on my phone.

There were more codes if you scroll down.

start cranking on those codes man. lol what are you waiting for? guessing is the last thing we want to do. if you have the error code, start document and find out what they mean. i'm sure there's a common connection somewhere within those codes. it also be that if you solve one, you might solve them all.
