Hi All,Recently, I found out the fuel gauge has some weird moment. Normally after we refill the fuel tank, the gauge needle would move from E to F immediately. However, my car did not move like that. I see the needle move fine, but it did not reach F. It takes about few minutes to reach F. At beginning, I thought I did not fill tank fully. Beside, the needle always move slightly while my driving.

I just filled my tank this morning. I figure out something that the fuel gauge did not reach F for sure shown below picture. However, when I turn off engine after couple second, and I turn back on just electronic, it reach F. When I hit gas acceleration or brakingad nturning, it goes down like the picture. I just do not know how Nissan design this function. It really makes me confuse after I fill the gas.

Does anyone help me regarding this issue, Please??

There are a few recalls currently for fuel senders and some other problems on the Murano fuel tanks. I would recommend visiting your local dealer so they can get you taken care of.

HI,

I don't know they have some kind of recall currently. Can you show me where I can find the announsment??

I went to my dealer twice already. The first time I visited, they told me they could not find anything wrong except the fuel tank. I think I will go to see them and have them check again. They told me they will need additional diagnosis of 3-4 hours to test fuel level sender.

Correction and my apology I spoke with one of our tech's instead of pulling the campaign myself. The current recall is for Tanks in '05 Murano. Your model '06 does not currently have any recalls for replacement of tank, or for sending unit problems. Gauges in this vehicle are very easily tested and can be eliminated as a problem quickly.

HI,

Thanks for your suggestion.

Is there any other suggestion you can tell me before I go back to the dealer?

I wish if you have a Murano and check if it is same condition like mine.

The gas tank in your vehicle has two portions with two sending units that work together to give readings. With the fact that yours is giving movement and variations as you are traveling, braking ect. this is probably due to the sloshing of gas in the tank itself. If there is a huge variance and as you stated your needle is reading incorrect then raising up at a later point, more then likely you have a sender that is going out or sticking. Your dealer will more then likely replace both if you are under warranty.

HI,I just fill the gas tank today. However, it is still like above picture which the needle never reach F after fill up fully tank. Do you think the fuel gauge is not reading incorrectly or ??

Would you help me find out who can test the MO SL 2006?Or asking someone to do it. I really want to know if it's normal or unnormal fuel gauge function.

Plese advise with many thanks!!!

October 2006 new Murano on its second tank of gas the fuel gauge started showing 3/4 -- now March 2008 and after numerous sensors and magic additives it is still doing the same thing. So is it that I need: More new sensors; there is a short in the line (sensor to gauge); a new fuel tank; a larger diameter filler pipe; the door at the bottom of the filler pipe loosened; or a new instrument cluster?Alternatively -- maybe Nissan Canada will do an across the Board exchange for a 2009 Murano (plus my extended warranty, protection package, and winter wheels).I have a substantial investment in this vehicle and want it fixed. Any ideas/solutions that anyone has?

Let the dealer do what they need to do to remedy the situation, if you are not satisfied with the dealer, take it to another one that offers you better customer service. Good luck with it!

MY GAS GAUGE STARTED ACTING UP AFTER THEY DID THE REPAIRS FOR THE RECALL. THEY PUT SOME SORT OF PROTECTOR IN FRONT OF THE GAS TANK TO PROTECT IT FROM OBJECTS ON THE ROAD HITTING IT. WHEN I TOLD THE DEALER HE SAID THAT SOME MURANO'S DID THAT. SOME ANSWER! IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN AFTER 10 FILL-UPS.
