So, im sorry, but i didnt go wwith your advice. I just bought the muffler...cuz i was extremely short on cash.

But lets put that aside, because this isnt what this thread is about.

I got the muffler a few weeks ago. I took it to a local shop and they didint even look under the car. They said that it was too much work for them haha.

So i took it to a professional All Car Care shop. They looked under the car and tried to see if they could fit my muffler. They told me that it is too big. They said that the stock muffler in the Versa is placed differently in the vehicle than most other vehiles out there. The reaso it wont fit is because there is a metal bar in between the muffler tip and the back bumper. They said to take it to a performance muffer shop.

I bought this muffler on ebay, and it clearly says it works with a Versa.

Any suggestions/ideas?IM NOT LOOKING FOR CRITISISM

It sounds like it's not a "bolt on" part, but actually needs to be welded on and have mounts fabricated.

As long as it can actually cram under the car somewhere inline with the current exhaust system, then a good muffler shop should be able to put the car up in the air, cut off the stock muffler and weld this one in it's place.

My advice would be this: try another shop or two. If you get the same response that they "looked and it won't fit", then get ahold of the eBay seller and tell him you're sending it back for a refund because it's not as advertised. I'd make them refund your shipping too.

You're probably just getting the run-around from the shops because they're only going to make a few dollars from you for the job. You would have been better off to buy a muffler from them instead (probably could have gotten the same one, haggled for the same price and avoided shipping costs).

It also states that it will give you 10-15 HP, which is also hogwash.

Most parts on eBay are generic "universal" parts, which won't always fit with every car. Parts that are listed to fit multiple different models almost certainly were not actually tested for fitment, thus it's a bit of "buyer beware".

The only actual bolt-on exhausts/mufflers are the ones that you said were too expensive for you to buy.

Other than that, you'd need to get a system cut, bent, and welded at a shop. You might as well get quotes from the exhaust shops for how much it will cost to have an exhaust done properly, so you know what you're looking at in case noone can install that muffler.

Well...just went to Midas...

Doesnt fit. Wont work. It will work with virtually every other car except the versa.

Goddammit.

So i am goin to try to get a refund from the retard who sold me it on ebay.

I still want a custom muffler tho...

They also said that my cars pipe is only 1 7/8 inches. This muffler was 2 1/2.Any performance mufflers i can buy for the Versa? Prefferably ones that people actually have on right now would be good.

Thanks.

Can you post a picture of the area around the current exhaust tip?

Sounds like there are two issues the shops are brining up. 1.) The exhaust tip you have is too large to fit in the area under the car. You mentioned some steel plate or rod or something.. Get me some pics from under the car so that we can see what is going on down there.

2.) The exhaust piping is 1 7/8" and the tip is 2 1/2". For them to turn you down for this is retarded. It's not that hard to weld up a reducer. I've watched a buddy of mine do this in 20 minutes. Since you are expanding the piping it won't hurt your performance.

So... post pics so we can see if #1 is the issue. Because #2 is not a big deal for an exhaust shop that actually cares.

The smallest inlet of performance mufflers ( most of them ) is 2.25 or 2.5. It doesnt matter, they can fit reducer's or expand the exhaust pipe. If you get a round ( canister ) type muffler get the biggest ( diameter ) you can fit. It will sound deeper and probably not any louder the a small one.

sure, buy a catback, not a generic muffler...thats your first problem

a muffler alone will have 0 performance benefit, and will sound like absolute **** (those hondas that sound buzzy you always laugh at? thats because they do what youre trying to)

get a quality catback thats made for the car...if youre short on cash you can wait until youre not short on cash, thats no excuse

might be a lost cause, but you could always leave negative feedback on them and sell the muffler to one of the local ricers.

If you paid with paypal, open a dispute with them. Also file a complaint with ebay.

Has either approach ever produced any positive results for you?

If you paid with your credit card, just send it back to the seller's address with a tracking number to prove that the seller received the item. Then open a dispute with your credit card company and make sure to stress the fact that you returned it BECAUSE it was not as described, that way you will get your shipping cost back.
