I just bought a motor set from Venus Auto and they had good customer service as far as sales go. A few things I noticed were they didnt plug any of the holes. Most of the hoses were just cut. I pulled my plugs and they had oil on them...well oil was everywhere. There is a small dent in the oil pan probably because the pallet they put the engine on broke in route. My ecu seems to have some sort of salt water damage. Is there anything I have to really worry about because they did not plug any of the holes? Could oil get on my plugs due to the engine being shaken alot during shipping? Is the small dent going to be a big problem? Is the corrosion on my ecu going to cause weird problems? I also noticed that my impeller on my turbo doesnt spin freely but does spin with minimal effort, is that a bad sign? In some of the other posts they say its not then they say it is. It's just kinda confusing. Anyhow any imput would be appreciated. Ill post some pictures as soon as my roomate gets his software working. Thanks.

oil on the spark plugs means oil is in the cylinder. which means the piston rings are blown or the valve oil seals are, either way its bad.

corrosion on the ecu wont be good. any water into something electrically isnt good. if it was jsut int he air maybe it wont be too bad. if the ecu was sittin in water it may be screwed.

turbo should spin freely even if its only minimal effort doesnt matter. that impeller is goint o be spin at about 50,000rpms it think thats how faster the go.

dent in oil pan also bad. could make it not pick up oil right which means engine and turbo wont get oil

Wrong.

It could be, and usually is something as simple as the coilpack gaskets that go under the valve cover. Inspect those before you start worrying about piston ring or valve seal failure.

Wrong again.

First find out where the dent is, then make a judgement. My pan had a big dent in it. But it was in the side and would not have affected the oil pickup at all. Regardless, we banged it out and all was good. However, the slightest dent in the bottom is bad news and MUST be replaced or banged out if possible.

Thanks, well there was also oil on and around the coil packs themselves but I will check those gaskets and see if that is the problem. The dent is on the front driver side corner of the oil pan. I'll post pics soon so you will understand what I mean.
